That's a lot harder to do now a days with a lot of cars having more features built into the radio. I can setup my car from my radio, so if I replace my head unit I effect the remote, the doors, windows, lights and some other things and if they do break GM can tell you to F off.. Are you from a Citi Golf or a Polo?
Go to a reputable car fitment centre and do it.
My first car 2004 new Citi Golf, second new 2006 Polo, my wifes(GF then) new 2008 Polo, all sound was done by myself and the warranty was never voided.
As long it is done right and no wires cut, don't stress.
