Is VOX ADSL any good for online gaming? I seen the 10mb connection for pure uncapped ADSL is quite a cheap price compared to other ISP's. Fibre is not available in my area therefore my only option would be ADSL. Also does anyone know what latency I can expect to international servers? I would also like to know if there's a better alternative than VOX. Lastly would I get the advertised speeds of 10mb/s(megabits per second)? I seen the ADSL exchange near me is capable of speeds up to 20mb. I would hate to pay for something and not get the speeds advertised.

Axxess as well as Telkom are even cheaper.

It all depends on your distance from the Booster Box (or to the Exchange itself) unfortunately, but if you have a router that is VDSL-capable, you could enjoy a better quality connection (and higher upload speeds) than on ADSL, at no additional cost.

Would I need to apply for VDSL to get symmetric download and upload speeds? or can I just get ADSL and use a VDSL router for symmetric speeds?

VDSL: 20 / 5 - not symmetric.

or 40 / 10 for 40 Mbps VDSL.

VDSL as well as ADSL do not have symmetrical Download vs Upload speeds, unfortunately.
Yep - the giveaway is in the name : Asymetric Digital Subscriber Line.

My vote is for Vox.
Do you have any idea what latency I can expect to international servers? I'm currently on a satellite connection and the latency is around 380ms to internation servers which is not really good.

Customer service is not the greatest if I'm honest - eg: no rep on this forum. Afrihost seem better in that dept. But I've had vox for about 7 years, apart from the last year, and just went back for the naked dsl product, which is great TBH.

If you select Telkom, the difference in price between 10Mbps and 20Mbps will be R100 per month. Also, the first 6 months are discounted. Also, you get a free router.

4 mbit line. I'm waiting for a 10 Mbit upgrade:

Any line-based latency will be (way) better than that of satellite or terrestrial connections.

To be fair, there is a lot of support for Afrihost here on MyBB. They seem to poo-poo Vox..... :crying:
But down here in the southern cape, Vox is excellent.

I'm leaning more towards Vox because they are cheaper. Its R580pm for a 10mb connection

I'm in KZN, I wonder if that makes any difference in terms of quality of service
