Vox Telecom Fatpipe

anyone else been over debited this month ? have only a capped account (the 300gb special) and i got charged +/-R910 for something that should have been R485 :(

are you 100% you ordered the correct product? if so contact support, I was debited correctly

yeah doubled checked the email i sent and the log in details i received and its both for the 300gb package ... unless it charged the full price and the discount wasnt applied for some reason

Edit: i emailed the guy who helped me last (Yaseen) hopefully he can assist but that will probably only be tomorrow and the debit has already gone off my credit card

wasnt the special for a limited amount of accounts only?

i assume you have proof that you purchased the special. - but on the other hand, if you purchased this month , did they deduct an amount when you bought the account?

ie - maybe it is the pro rata for the data you used, and the full amount for the coming month

I made sure on my email i mentioned the R485 300gb special and it this was on the 05/08 so early this month when there was plenty of accounts left (still plenty left i assume because its still on the website as well)

Edit: the debit only came off today, no debit when i initially applied for the special

i should also mention that i had an uncapped account as well BUT i got notification (on email) that this was cancelled so not sure whats going on, the uncapped + capped package doesnt equal the amount i was debited

okay looks like neo_x was correct, the R485 was for sep to oct and the other amount added on was the pro-rata from aug to sep

thanks for clearing that up for me :o
 
Hi Chris,

Im currently having an issue streaming Showmax via my Samsung online app. I know of someone else using vox that has the same issue. Are you at all aware of this?

The SmartTV app didn't work, which is not a fault of our network, seems like a support problem for ShowMax. Tablet worked fine.

What I saw was the app connecting via HTTP GET (80/443) to numerous destinations around the world. There's no way to build a quality experience for this without prioritizing all HTTP traffic completely.

I saw destinations in the UK, Norway, and into the west coast of the USA.

I don't think I need to explain more than that.

i am still experiencing streaming issues at night, from 8pm every night all streams will just buffer ,play for 10sesconds and buffer for 60 seconds... then stream for 10 seconds and buffer for 60 seconds etc etc.... it happens at exactly from 8pm onward, like a switch is turned on somewhere to cause all streams to buffer, i understand there was issues in Western Cape and telkom, is this ongoing ?
why do i only experience this at EXACTLY 8pm onward ?
 
Hmm neat feature!

It would be but could be tricky to implement in a secure manner, one would need to know the Account ID or ADSL user name of the recipient and the transfer would probably reflect the converse. Then you also open a can of worms with users accusing each other of steeling bandwidth...
If it could be gifted via a 3rd party, say via accounts department, it may work but then that adds complexity, admin and delays.

I agree, cannot even stream youtube anymore. I'm in johannesburg area on a 40 Mb/s VDSL line. @voxtelecom, you need to fix this asap.

Speedtest results are 100%, streaming just seem throttled/shaped beyond believe.

Wouldn't be that hard to implement, DSL username is easy and safe to share, some SMS's and OTP shared between and presto chango! Could work.

Why you'd want to do it, is a different story. I for one wouldn't.

thank you , i think a switch is turned on at 8pm every night to throttle streams on telkom level somewhere somehow, not sure.

So um ... There's this thing that I just finished implementing ... and um I want to share so badly.

I'm testing it today and once testing is done, the DSL product manager will start the marketing campaign. I'll ask if I can drop some hints here.

I don't know when or if the 100GB will be re-offered, but what I can tell you, is that the next two specials that I know about, are really cool.

Bolt on is great, I'm a customer of it as well.

Virtual beer? You shouldn't have. Any hint may just give it all away. Was there a lid on that vBeer?

No problems.

I can confirm streaming is not a problem even on youtube with my Vox account. I only have a 4mbps line, but Youtube 1080p streams very well. Just for testing I tried this music vid and set it to 1080p. It was flawless.

Seems ShowMax do have major issues atm, especially with their TV app. Let's hope they get their act together.
