Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Hey Guys,

I'm getting high ping returns at the moment.
I had similar issues last week and ended up switching over to afrihost which solved the issue.
I'm based in Cape Town, Southern Suburbs and am running on the 100GiG fat pipe.

Same here. 300ms+ pings to the UK. Usually averages around 160ms. Also in Cape Town.

Hopefully the Cape Town issues will be resolved by the end of the week.

Eish, I moved away from Afrihost to stop hearing things like that. :) Did too many people join Vox in the last few weeks?

Nope. We've been dealing with an issue with Telkom that just hasn't completed yet.

Much as I appreciate the hours the Afrihost representatives team put in on MyBB, cvanwie is the Systems Architect over at Vox, communicating directly with us on the forums, and not just a rep feeding us some company line about how everything is fine.

I don't game so I'm not noticing the latency issues, but I'm sure they're on top of it.

I've got no issues with Vox and there services. I was just wondering, thanks. I know trying to get Telkom to do something is a real pain, so good luck and I hope you guys manage to resolve it.

Not sure what is going on but in the last 3 days I am getting constant DNS problems .

Thanks for bringing up this problem; we've identified what we believe was the problem, and resolved it.

Let me know if you continue to experience such an issue using our DNS.

And long may it continue. Let's hope his resolve doesn't wane under the inevitable barrage of scrutiny from the myBB community.

By default I use openDNS settings, 208.67.220.222 and 208.67.222.222

I assume this would be a permanent solution to ISP related DNS issues?

I'd suggest that you use our DNS or Google (8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4) with your Vox DSL account.

The reason is simple, when you get capped we have walled garden areas that we allow you to use while capped, we redirect you around as needed on the network layer, and if you aren't using a DNS server which is wall gardened, you're going to have a bad time.

Avoiding our DNS because of a problem which isn't raised, is like putting a bandage on a broken leg. Rather escalate the problem to us and let us fix the problem properly.

Obviously if you're using services like UnoTelly or the like, you may need to use other DNS servers; just keep in mind that when you run out of cap, you're dead in the water. We do permit Google's DNS in our walled garden.

I hope this helps!

Regards,
Chris

Hmm, even if my Line is still with another ISP and I am just using the VOX data ?

Correct, you are using our data, which means you are on our network...

OK, will change it the minute I get home. Have not had any real issues besides some very slow periods in off peak hrs. Usually after 20:00. Other than that, more than happy with VOX. Thanks for giving us the internet as it should be.

Our pleasure!

While you are online cvanwie, what's up with Vox and capping me on the 1st every single month.

You were capped for 1hr 33min 22sec due to the mechanics which are currently in place to deal with the Samsung promotional package.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
