I'm wondering just how much location affects things, because I've never had that bad with afrihost.

I'm in durban, the differences between ISP's seem to be very minimal here, afrihost I'd say on the bottom but only if its a single stream thing, WA Home Capped and Vox are seeming identicle out of office hours to me, at lunchtime Vox did have a speed edge. I'd be hard pressed to choose between the two if the GB were the same and the price similar.

Depends on your usage patterns too.

I had to get a new capped account for my folks, decided to go with the Vox option because it is actually the best value for them. Afrihost (I'm lumping Axxess in here too because both MTN network) is shyte in the south and Webafrica is more expensive if I want 50GB during the day (the afterhours data is useless to my parents as they'll never use it).

The other options are:

Cybersmart: More expensive (plus their website looks like a 4-year old designed it).
MWEB: Way too expensive.
Telkom: Way too expensive.

Thanks for the tests - it would appear AH in the south is consistently inconsistent.

WA capped pro or Vox for me come month end.

I suggest starting off with normal capped then upgrading if you need to, they will upgrade you at any point in time and just charge you for the more expensive account (Upgrade being more expensive not necessarily better).

Lol. True story.

After the masses fled telkom, looked what happened to AH IPC capacity :(
Telkom as well ?

That would make two mass migrations to Afrihost, if I recall correctly MWeb was the first ?

Hi, I have been using a free 40gb fat pipe voucher since April 15th. On the website there is a statement that the voucher is valid for 3 months. Does this mean my account will end July 15th? Or only that the voucher must have been used within the 3 months it was received?

Thanks

It's referring to the voucher code not the data itself.

I asked VOX the same yesterday, got their reply an hour ago

Thank you for entrusting us with your request.

Kindly note that it will come to an end on the 15th of July.

We thank you for giving VOX the opportunity, to be your Service Provider.

So err, is she perhaps wrong? Or did they change policy? I would understand if the data was only usable for 3 months, but... :(

When Vox ran that giveaway we all asked those exact questions.
They confirmed that it was only the voucher itself that expired.
I still use that vox account despite having used the data ages ago, I just buy more capped data.

Looking at one of these to replace my dead OW account. What are their out of bundle rates if you have reached your monthly limit. The only thing I see on their signup page is R40 per gig. Surely that cant be right

Their data rollsover. So it's perfectly fine to buy a bigger account than you think you will need.
