Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Thanks... got that, but needed confirmation that they are SHAPING. "Prioritised" is not necessarily the same thing ;)

Also, in my case it is not "less responsive", it's pretty much DEAD :(

When an ISP has IPC issues one of the first protocols they look at is the P2P/downloads etc.
Also noticed the degrading performance but was still able to stream last night. downloads was a no go.

You are lucky to be able to stream. What streaming services were you using out of interest? Just comparing notes...

My Netflix wont go over 480P SD - ** Edit ** After 9:00 PM it improved drastically and I was streaming at 1080P HD.

WOW last night was shockingly bad....Not only was P2P in the bin as others have described but FTP was sacrificed as well.

Was getting 30Kb/s last night and 2.2Mb/s this morning from the same server :?

Vox doesn't have a network issue indicator like axxess and others hey?

Called it when the first special came out.

This has happened to virtually every provider that has offered rock bottom price specials, MWEB's uncapped in the early days, webafrica dropped their own network to switch to IS, Afrihost switched to their own network.

First starts the praise, the praise is advertising, more people join, network isn't as big as say Internet Solutions, network dies, TBA on capacity.

ISP probably ends up earning more regardless because either they will either get more capacity or fill that capacity that was not previously filled as people jump ship and things normalize.

The big difference being AH said they had no IPC concerns, at least VOX are being open about this.
Also take note that these are very much area specific issues.

Sure, nice to be honest but at the end of the day too many specials were run and they should really have anticipated this.

Its a sad thing but generally its safe to assume that if a ISP is having issues for more than a few weeks you should switch and come back in a few months if you like.

At the end of the day performance still sucks in those areas and nice words wont change that, hopefully actions do.

Netflix, I tell you. Caught all ISP's off guard regarding capacity.

So you never had IPC issues in the past :P

We did last year for a month waiting for Telkom to install, and we certainly did while on our old backbone when we didn't control it, which was why we made the network move.

But I was referring specifically to the context of the discussion there and Drifter's post...

I know, I was just joking :D

Streamed snooker from UK last night, high resolution (not sure what it equates to), no problems, no buffering, no stuttering.

Rivonia. So I do think this may be exchange and/or area related.

I have no doubt it's a IPC issue but the people in the South are affected more so than us up North.

Side note, this happened sometime in December and I just noticed it:
