Vox Telecom Fatpipe

When I switch to my Plugg account everything goes like normal...
And its not my Newsprovider (Astraweb) as p2p does the same.
I can check mine right now and see what it does and if it goes full speed you can contact Vox support to check your account.

I've noticed that NNTP and P2P are shaped to a crawl, as in 1-2kbs from 6am to about 10am every day. So even fat pipe is not unshaped.

Quite frankly I've never noticed a difference between my FP acc and my Uncapped Bolt-on.

Maybe I need to get this looked at...

Not for me. Full speed at the moment - linespeed 20Mbps VDSL for NNTP and most torrents, like XBMCtorrent for series etc.

Hey Everyone,

Sorry to Name and Shame... however this IP has been trying to brute force into my network and access my samba shares for the past few days. It only seems to happen while on the Vox network - so I am assuming it has something to do with that?

197.245.99.63

IP Ping's to JHB.

Do you have a Dynamic DNS service running by any chance?

When I was using Synology's free DDNS until a few months ago someone was always trying to brute force into the NAS's root as admin. Even though he was IP blocked after 3 attempts.

Changed DDNS provider and all is good.

Just did a reverse IP lookup and that IP is part of vox network...

Edit. That IP is also listed on BARRACUDA, CBL and Spamhaus ZEN blacklists.

Portscan reveals that telnet port is open.

Naa I don't.

It seemed to find my IP while I was connected to the VOX Network. Must've scanned around. Posted it here as a rDNS lookup showed it was part of the VOX Network itself :P

Yea... a bit problematic :/

I hope a rep can do something about it. I've completely blocked it on my firewall - but it fails to stop trying :P

Hi Zertop

I'm assuming all Vox users should block this IP? Do you block it on the router firewall itself?

Unfortunately I only use the vox account on a schedule on my Linux server for After Hours downloading (bolt-on), and so it connects directly to my server. This means that I have in fact blocked it on the server itself - and not on the router :/

Most users won't have an issue as the router would block the requests anyway :)

Ahh perfect. Thanks man :)

If you plan to use any e-mail requiring you to use their SMTP server in your mail client, forget them as ISP. Their SMTP is blacklisted worldwide. Rather stay with Telscum.
It is also not possible that their speed can be better than Telscum, as they still go through their lines!

Anyone know what the cost of adding additional cap before the end of the month?
I don't see a price for the topup on the site.

Only shows OOB R10/GB but do you need extra for downloading or only browsing? Why not use one of the free accounts :) from WA / AH / Axxess and even Vox?

Because I need more than a gig.
I already have a 10Gb Afrihost but figured if Vox was cheaper I'd by that data rather considering I have a 150Gb account with Vox.

I get you. If you don't come right, best to contact the call center tomorrow :/.
