Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Looking at the forum in general, it seems all ISP's are having issues today.

We had an isolated issue in DBN around midnight last night, but other than that we are certainly not having problems today...
 
Apple store downloads are stupid slow for me tonight. Anyone else?

Trying to download Xcode and it's going at 1-2Mbit/sec on my 40Mbit line.

Downloads from Apple (Akamai) are very often slow. Commented on it here several times but it gets completely ignored.
 
At the moment everything seems to be behaving again. Good ping to all servers i test.

I connected to axxess to test them and they seem fine..,

Had a few issues a few hours ago where my live streams were terrible but it seems like its fine now.

I'm in JHB but never been able to stream twitch even on high without constant buffering on my 300GB Fatpipe. 10 Mbps line.

have you tried livestreamer?

Paste this in cmd after installing. Replace dota2ti with the twitch channel. you can also replace high with source.

livestreamer twitch.tv/dota2ti high --hls-segment-threads=10 --hds-segment-threads=10 --hls-live-edge 10 --hds-live-edge 10

It multi threads your stream download.
 
Yeah I can watch with Livestreamer, I meant through the site directly.
 
They listened when the public asked for specials on the bigger fatpipe packages, let's hope they do the same for the fatpipe business accounts.

I wanted to upgrade two of my fatpipe accounts to fatpipe business so I could configure IPSEC between the two sites. The first response was that I would have admin rights on the routers. Before signing the contract, I asked the sales rep to confirm this again and he told me: "Apparently we do not give access to the router settings as this might cause a lot of issues"

This is standard practice across all of our S.A ISP's. The only difference is a static IP configured on the router WAN interface, yet they are unwilling to provide business clients with access to the routers. Why is this?
 
I was asked to do some tests via a test tool on saix.net.... getting tired of all these tests that just keep going on.

I compared a telkom guest account, a vox account and a axxess account.

Axxess had 3x faster download speed and 10x better ping than vox.
Telkom's guest account appeared broken.... even their brochure took forever to partially load.
 
I dont think 8.8.8.8 is the answer here. Chris, please supply us with the correct DNS to use.

You should use the DNS we issue when you authenticate on our network. The DNS admin has assured me that he's fixed the problem; and he's building new DNS per region to bring DNS closer to the subscriber (JHB, Durban, CPT).
 
Not enough capacity. Very disappointed, sameo sameo like all other ISP's it seems.

There is a small window of time where there is a problem. I'm down in Cape Town on a project and will be back in the office Wednesday; BTW nice weather guys .... NOT!

Once back in JHB, I'm going to take a look at how I can help the problem in CPT. I'm going to affect a few things which I don't believe will be "in your face" but we're doing it to help the overall experience. For instance, limiting peer to peer upload a bit; any objections?
 
Not if it effects remote applications such as Teamviewer/Splashtop etc

What about Skype?

We consider those, and a few others, as in your face, meaning they are absolute applications which give you an immediate view of the internet and how it's working. The things which I would affect are the things which run in the background and don't need the immediate gratification like Skype or Teamviewer type of things.

I'm going to work on the Gaming issue as well, but I still have that problem with Xbox + Party chat that I need to fix.
