Vox Telecom Fatpipe

In response to the Telkom fibre break yesterday (Wednesday, 11 November @ 9:30am) that brought down one of Vox’ IPC's carrying traffic for our ADSL northern region, our network automatically rerouted traffic via our other IPC’s.

After further monitoring, the service remains stable, giving Telkom the opportunity to resolve the matter accordingly.

The fault is being managed with high priority, and a further update with regard to the full restoration of services will be communicated with urgency. No ETTR is available at present, however services should not be impacted at this point in time.

Mind sharing a traceroute and any kind of example of what's busted? :)

Sorry will have to see what it's like tonight again. AT the office at the moment. But similar to what I have posted before. Youtube slow and speedtest not even loading. That is all I could have a look at before I left.

Sent all the information to VOX support and VOXY, but no reply to anything other than a reference number.

VOX7055112

Everything working great here today. Stabilized at about 17:18 sharp yesterday and been smooth sailing again since. Hats off to VOX once again. I'd offer Telkom some credit as I'm sure it was their technicians who resolved the fault, but ultimately it was Telkom who decided to lay a critical national fibre link through a township...? No credit for that lol

Subsequent to the JHB IPC losing connectivity (Wednesday 11 November 2015) and routing via redundant IPC services, Telkom managed to resolve the problem on their network (Thursday 12 November 2015).

Traffic that was routed via the redundant medium now traverse the restored IPC.

After monitoring, we can confirm that the fault has been resolved.

Without having to scroll through pages of bumf... is the free data after 12 working now?

12 - 6am right?

Are there specific WiFi settings I must use? I have a Netgear router, and since moving to VOX my WiFi is very unstable and disconnects a lot.

Just popped in to say the same thing. Netgear router, and I get very unstable wifi now. In actual fact, I seem to be getting a lot of "resets", for loss of a better term, on my internet. It goes dead, then comes up again. Happens frequently. Time range around late afternoon, early evening. But wifi has been terrible.

Wifi has nothing to do with your ISP...

but I am getting frequent disconnects myself on the internet side. Router seemingly loses internet for a few minutes then comes back. Line is fine.

This has nothing to do with your ISP, but it is a problem on the Netgear routers from Telkom. I had the same issue after I got one when my D-Link packed up. I even exchanged the new Netgear for another new Netgear, same problem. If you set the Wifi to max speed (300 Mbps) the wifi disconnects every now and then. Set it at 150 Mbps and it won't happen again.
