Vox Telecom Fatpipe

It was very strange yesterday.
I downloaded a MySQL Distro from Oracle and my line maxed out at 1.2MBs but when I tried to stream I got <100KBs and it soon fell to 10KBs. Switching accounts to Telkom internet and selecting the same stream from the same server and it came down at 500KBs.
Is Streaming being shaped? it is very strange that an HTTP download can max out the line but then a stream not even get 10%.

Fatpipe and Bolt on been very slow switched to IS uncapped no issues any WA capped is fly's.

It does seem to deteriorate BADLY in the evenings. They know this, yet do nothing about it.

10Mbps line:

Download Speed: 5297 kbps (662.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 415 kbps (51.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 70 ms

Same line speed on SAIX, just mid afternoon:

Download Speed: 6852 kbps (856.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 415 kbps (51.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 24 ms

I haven't said anything because it seems you guys were on Vox's case enough (something about drowning out the message when there's too many voices). I'll switch back to my Vox account tonight to see if they have actually resolved anything. Our Vox fat pipe got slower and slower until I had to abandon it for my old backup account. So far 5 good months with Vox and one bad one (mid Dec 2015/Jan 2016)

Now I am getting annoyed.

We were told over a week ago that the Cape IPC was installed and the problem fixed.
But from 6PM on streaming is impossible.
Are we in for a repeat of the Afrihost fiasco?

If there is no Fix, or at least a definite timeline by the end of the month, I am handing in cancellation notice.

I will not be strung along paying for a useless service for 6 months again, been there done that, loyalty is never repaid by ISP's just abused, so this time I am not hanging in to be loyal.

Just a damn shame we are not getting any feedback of substance. Anybody can say "Will update as and when we have more info", that means nothing.

I don't think the IPC issue was resolved. They will be the first ISP to get additional capacity within a few days of reporting the issue... Or at least a first for me

Download Speed: 7054 kbps (881.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 751 kbps (93.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 39 ms
Jitter: 6 ms

Seems ok this side, line is being used by other users streaming etc.

Hi Michael

Thanks for your feedback

The service I am receiving so far is great, keep it up.

Hope you get everything sorted.

My issue is in the Cape region by the way

I was able to stream just fine in Bothasig after switching back to my Vox fatpipe last night. Tomorrow there will be an all day user at the house which will be the real test to monitor the day time performance and 6pm shifts in the network (this includes streaming tutorials, youtube, series, data uploads - the whole shebang). I can't report on Netflix streaming because we don't have it but I'll give Swambo's feedback once she's run a whole day on Vox again. I could see nothing wrong with my Vox service last night.

Good Day, I have for the last few weeks been experiencing very high latency (300ms +) especially when playing League of Legends on the EUW server, however when i switch to another ISP it is perfect (180 - 190ms)

agree with this , please fix

I wonder if it is not isolated to LOL and maybe one or two other services? My BF4 on PS4 have been running sub 200ms to Europe since Monday, the best it has ever been!

What is going on today.
I am trying to download a Linux Distro and 3 times it has failed with "Network Error" the most recent after 95%.
I have plenty of bandwidth so am not concerned at the GB I am wasting but the wasted time damn annoying.
VOX is now useless for streaming in the evenings in Cape Town and unreliable for work during the day.

Fortunately I also have a Telkom Account so I can switch and get the Distro but the time has been lost forever and is not billable.

Strange. I'm looking at switching ISP's as we speak. I'll have a look at what my latency is tonight and give some feedback tomorrow.

What I will say though, is CW's network seems pretty solid. They're a bit more expensive but where value-for-money is concerned, I think it's worth-while IMO.

I used a trial account last night for D3 and my ping hung around 270ms. That may seem high but when compared to my current ISP, it fluctuates too much and often spikes into the 1000's. LoL hung around 200ms to EUW

Yes I had the exact experience with Showmax, can't stream with Vox but Telkom and Afrihost is flying.
