Vox Telecom Fatpipe

Good morning.

Due to unforseen circumstances our team had to stop the investigation early this morning.

A failure occurred on the upstream services providers network which is still in progress.

We are working closely with the provider to resolve the fault. Once completed we will continue our work to improve quality of service.

Any one know if this is going to have a wider impact on other ISP's now?

Only in South Africa does the user have to provide there own redundancies for the internet.
 
I was going to move to vox at the end of this month. I'm so glad I got a test account first.

After struggling with their network last night I cancelled my order. I'll find an alternative...
 
Wow, it has never been this bad - connection is barely usable. Barely.

I'm going to need to buy some bandwidth from another ISP to get some work done.

Can you give us some kind of ETA on this upstream fault?

They have an outage...ISP's have outages. No one is exempt from it.

Not sure why people go into rage mode about it. I've been with Vox for just under 2 years now and I'm pretty freakin happy.

Of course they have outages, but they should also have redundancies in place to mitigate the effects. I use my account for business during the day and it's pretty much unusable at the moment.

I also don't appreciate the fact that users prompt Vox for an announcement / update on the situation, and not the other way round. Surely Vox would be the first to know. There's also not been an explanation or an ETA on a fix (even an estimated one) which is Customer service 101. Vox offers great value for money and I've generally been happy with the product, but their client-facing side of the business needs some work.
 
No one knows the headaches these people have caused me.

I considered moving ISPs in November last year and I chose vox. Straight off the bat, they didn't activate my account at the end of November, then they randomly activated it close to the end of December, after I cancelled the order in the beginning of December. Imagine someone making you pay for 2 ISPs because they can't follow instructions...

Then I had issues getting the 40GB trial account from them, now their network is giving issues.

I'm sorry, but the line has to be drawn somewhere. If I compare what's happening to vox now and what happened to Axxess last year, Axxess, hands down, handled the situation far better then vox is handling this!
 
I was able to stream just fine in Bothasig after switching back to my Vox fatpipe last night. Tomorrow there will be an all day user at the house which will be the real test to monitor the day time performance and 6pm shifts in the network (this includes streaming tutorials, youtube, series, data uploads - the whole shebang). I can't report on Netflix streaming because we don't have it but I'll give Swambo's feedback once she's run a whole day on Vox again. I could see nothing wrong with my Vox service last night.

I got home and off Vox at 11:30 PM last night as it was slow streaming. Now it seems there was an outage or something. I saw two raging fires last night so maybe one of them had something to do with it. This is going into month two of ups and downs Vox. You don't have infinite time to resolve this deterioration of your service.

I don't see how an international uplink outage wouldn't affect you...U must not be using your internet enough....2 months of intermittent speed issues....Regularly getting 70KB/s via FTP and my line is synced at 23Mb/s.

People who run P2P have also been moaning. As to this morning I couldn't even watch a 360p youtube vid
 
Not sure if this is related but it is the only reference I can find from any ISP regarding issues:

Slow International Browsing and Email due to a international link failure. Engineers are attending.

No indication of which link and, of course, non of the fiber operators are publicly acknowledging an outage.
 
Vox, we appreciate that all ISP's have issues from time to time but how about some communication with your customers when there is an issue please ?! Damn annoying that we should have to look it up on forums etc.

There is this efficient technology called email, use it !
 
Grrrr... and now VOX completely unusable.

Any resolution ETA would be very appreciated. Chris, where are you when we need you most! :cry:

If IPC capacity issues, then grrrrrrr and meh.
