VoxTelecom, Telkom in VoIP interconnect first

Cool, the next big question is, what are the interconnect charges going to be, on both sides.

maby if they can actually get my Vox Telecom VOIP crap to WORK i can start making use of these "better quality calls" lol

I think this is a great leap forward in the local telecoms environment. Interconnection, both in terms of cost and willingness to interconnect by the big players is one of the biggest factors keeping prices artificially high en keeping competition out. Telkom’s willingness to interconnect with a VoIP provider is therefore great news…

yip - telkom finally getting their act together on this one is very welcome news and could make a very significant difference to pricing...

Do they have much option though? I mean shouldn't they be forced to interconnect with everybody? Although I suppose there's not much chance of ICASA forcing Telkom to do anything.

they probably just sending their traffic over the peering link with datapro and telkom, its nothing major really. its just over and ATM or frame relay link most likely.

atleast datapro and telkom finally got the peering thing right... lol took them couple of years :D
