VPN with fibre

Hi everybody

I recently upgraded to fibre through Home Connect. In the past is was able to set up VPN using my ADSL ISP user/pass combo. Now with the fibre I didnt recieve a user/pass combo and i dont have access to the router they supllied. Any help on setting up a VPN with this setup?

Most probably VPN ports are blocked. Give them a call and ask them to open ports (1723) on the router so you can setup vpn.

Bit more tricky than that, they more than likely are doing a PPTP or IPTP using the Mikrotik. But strange they would be filtering incoming connections though.

You are referring to an incomming VPN, IE to your house and not an outgoing VPN to somewhere else from your house?

But best to give them a call and see.

Most of our clients that go on fibre get Mikrotiks and the completely locked down.
 
Ask the isp's the op is questioning the same thing 80 and 443 are open only

No, I have a FTTH service. And they supplied me with a MikroTik HAP lite. I have contacted them to find how I can enable the VPN settings. I have managed to get the username from the router OS but the password is still hidden so I have no idea what that could be.

You won't be able to administrate it more than likely, what you need to do is have them configure it as a pass through device, you then use your own router which will host the VPN service.
 
Hi. You are probably going to need another router in the link. I have their router (HC's) and my own. I then requested they forward all ports to my router, after they configured their router to issue the same IP (using DHCP) to my router on the LAN side of their router. I also got them to disable WLAN on their router. I don't trust not being able to manage my own security.

It is a little messy, but I am able to do everything I used to do with my DSL, and I can administer my router/firewall myself.
