We are making great progress!

All service providers and utilities have approved our wayleave submission and we were able to submit the overall wayleave to the Johannesburg Road Agency (JRA) for approval this morning. With no objections received, the approval of the wayleave will be a formality and we expect to have the JRA wayleave by early next week.

We are on track to start with deployment by the early February and is committed to pass all homes and businesses in the NORA precinct by 31 July 2016. Homes and businesses that have applied for services will be connected as they are “passed”. To date, more than 140 NORA stakeholders have submitted the “how to get fibre” section on the website and more applications and streaming in daily! The deployment of fibre will where ever possible follow routes to prioritise and accommodate these applicants.

We will launch ISP information upon project kick-off. We will keep you posted via the NORA and CAP social media platforms in this regard.

I don't think crudler is a Vulacom spokesman. Just updating the thread on their behalf. I'll scratch around for an email Addie for you. Alfie Martin I think is one of the directors.

Not holding my breath!

I see Fibrehoods has just announced it is rolling out in Melville next. My sister lives there. Bet she gets fibre before I do?!

cant imagine what more could be delaying things. JRA have given the full thumbs up

So a Vulacom representative just pitched up at my residence to schedule fibre installation for later next week!!!!

Said no one ever.... :p

The aerial fibre project has begun in Melville with wooden poles being planted in the streets to run the fibre cables. To receive updated communications, sign up now - portal.fibrehoods.co.za/

This irks me, although it shouldn't. While Vulacom pussy foot around, Fibrehoods is actively preparing infrastructure in more suburbs.

Melville residence association started their fibre plans in december. 3 months later they have broken ground.
we started ours 1 year ago. but we have a website, so at least we have that going for us

I asked for a progress report...

Our engineers are meeting with the JRA engineers today to discuss the pole planting process and location – all utilities and other operators have approved our wayleave and the JRA must ratify it.
We should know more after today……and we’ll update the website.

Best Regards,

Sadly, my business couldn't wait any longer and signed with Saicom. I kept telling the landlord that Vulacom is coming, when he would reply "when" the best I could answer was "soon! expecting an update any day now." But I have been saying that since October so i can understand. Sorry Alfie and co, I tried my best.....

yes, we are on the avenue (which becomes Grant)

we tried telkom lte with a pay as you go trial - its fine for home use, but not corporate. its just too unstable, get speeds of anywhere from 3mbps to 25mbps depending on the time of day, weather, planetary alignment, the mood of Zeus etc etc
