Vulacom

Yeah, I was really rooting for Fibrehoods!! Anyway... Here is the communique in full.

A little late on this however I have the same issues. How were they selected and why would they be a residents association choice? I think Fibrehoods or Vumatel should do their own canvassing. They have proven track records wheras these guys were awarded this "RFI" without pricing or service providers on the back of it :wtf:

I would prefer using a proven provider then someone who probably has a relationship and thus won this "tender"

Anyway, I would prefer to ask Fibrehoods or Vumatel

way too late:)
March 2015 at the AGM Fibrehoods did a presentation, and they looked like the vendor of choice.
At the same AGM we voted in the Chairman (Brett), and a Fibre committee to follow the process through
The committee went through the fibrehoods process and saw that they were not fit for purpose, and the committee decided on Vulacom.
Fibrehoods was definitely the wrong choice based on the brief that was decided on in the AGM - Fibrehoods wont facilitate a security camera system with their competitors (Cap), and CSS tactical have zero presence in our suburb. Vumatel... maybe that would have worked, not sure, but thats the point of an AGM, we vote in the decision makers to decide on our behalf, should you have wanted to voice someone else, then you should have been part of that committee, or voted differently at the AGM.

That being said, Vulacom are taking their sweet ass time, and have been terrible on the COMS. So I am not at all impressed with how things are going.

Not defending Vulacom, but I just wanted to show that the decision process was in line with the AGM and its constitution so totally kosher.

There has since been another AGM, and the same committee is in place, so I guess the residents have spoken

Mmmmm, I see Fibrehoods is rolling out in Savoy, Waverley and Highlands North, areas where there is a strong CAP presence too.

So if those suburbs endorsed Fibrehoods does it mean no CAP surveillance camera infrastructure for them?

Anyway, I maintain the decision to go Vulacom was the wrong one!

Still waiting for feedback regarding the other ISP's?

What happened to the pole planting? Sector 2 was supposed to be complete by June 22nd and not a single new pole planted. Sector 1 has the poles, but no cables.

Good question! They were very active about 5 weeks ago, but in the last 2-3 weeks I've seen no work being done anywhere. In fact if it weren't for the meeting at the Factory recently, I would have thought Vulacom had run out of funds and abandoned the project mid stream.

I guess not that was their RA's choice i guess. For me, I want cap involved, no brainer. nice internet is a plus. the safety of my family is the perogative

Heard through the grapevine that new isps are Vox, Mweb, cool ideas and XDsl
apparently S1 and S2 are running on track to be switched on at month end

holding breath

There website says 2 new ISPs. You reckon it will be 4? Holding thumbs along side you.

yup. they are announcing the 2 smaller isps this/next week (which will probably be xdsl and CI). they others will follow

Can't see how they will make the promised July 31st date with nary a single new pole planted since June, no new poles in Sector 2 or 3, and no cable installed for Sector 1. Methinks NORA may have bet on the wrong horse. Goedkoop is duurkoop, in the end.

yup - rumours abound that its now being shifted back to fibrehood.
*sigh*
hopefully they can pick up from where they left off, but im sure there is going to be more delays
also very doubtful about the 31st

You joking?

I spoke to a very nice lady at CAP the other day and she mentioned how Vulacom was a huge mistake. They will not use them ever again. I also spoke to a guy at Fibrehoods and while talking he confirmed that they are going to be doing Norwood.

So I see on Republic of Norwood FB page looks like Fibrehoods might be coming. How long till we actually see fibre?

It's in the comments section on the right hand-bar, under Visitor posts. A veiled discussion that suggests Fibrehoods might be replacing Vulacom. Nothing concrete.
