Vuma Reach Phoenix Thread

There are a few projects in the KZN area which are offering a decently if not free priced gigabit speed for schools. If you pm me the school name and some basic details I can do a check for you.

That us why a rollout roadmap is needed as the area is not serviced yet. They are fully aware of the possibility of free fibre as well, and easily are the most prominent in getting donations and fundraising by their nature.

From a quick glance I was allowed they are with Bitco 50mbs.

How long after trenching does it normally take for fibre to go live? They are currently digging a road away from me.
When I was driving through woodview last year, It took arounds 2 or 3 months for them to become live. They are covering up trenching on my road now. So I'm getting excited now. They started in early Feb, so theres still some time to go

I wish there was a roadmap for this. I am in a less affluent area than Woodview/Palmview and see them moving inwards into Phoenix, probably working via the Show your interest page.

Had a meeting with a school SGB on Friday who desperately need internet. By the sounds of it they are with some wisp with not very good signal. Their admin staff was going around to the cellular providers looking for a solution and at the same time not looking to get into a long term contract.
He there bud. They can probably look at Supersonic uncapped LTE for R999. I current get over 120mbps down and 30mbps up

I know you guys have that route, but a lot of KZN ISP's are forced AWS routing from Durban -> JHB - >Durban (Mtunzini) then up to MEA.

I really do miss the 148ms latency from Durban to MRS France which personally would be the best gaming route for Durban.
We are making some changes in the near future, our PoP at MRS in France is now live as well as our Paris presence. Will see what latencies we get on the east coast and see how we can leverage it for KZN.

Cough cough, do you have a looking glass lurking around anywhere?

Welcome to vumareach from a fellow user in cape town via afrihost best ever im a gamer and i have super low ping on eu 156ms almost 0 jitter toooo, although you may receive an all in one ont wireless router I recommend yall buy a dual band router for 5ghz wifi network easy to setup
Hi. Is that possible, using my existing router, Netgear Nighthawk X4S D7800. I thought was not possible with ISP provided Wi-fi enabled ONT router (Device connections limited)

It should be possible by running an ethernet cable from the ONT to your WAN port on your router and making a few changes to the settings on your nighthawk

Many thanks. Do i need to get the PPPOE details of the ONT and put it in my router?

Nah, you just need to connect the ONT to your router, use a network cable from the LAN1 port on the ONT to the WAN port on your router.

You can use any of the LAN ports on the ONT doesn't have to be LAN1, and then you will be good to go. If you haven't changed the wireless config on your router then all your wireless devices which are configured to use that router should automatically start to use your fibre line

They trenched both sides of the road or just one side and tunneled across to connect homes?

Sawesome thanks

Both sides
Municipality does not allow trenching across road. And it will be too expensive to do HDD under road. Only certain sections they do drilling to get to opposite side when on a coner or new street

I would just need to.remove current ADSL PPPoE received from my current Afrihost pure comnect account.
