Vuma Reach Phoenix Thread

I dont want to hijack this thread, but I also dont think its necessary to make a new one.
Vumatel is deploying in my area (vuma reach), they have suddenly stopped a week ago.
When asked as to why, they mentoind they are being stopped by a "bussiness forum".
I would just like to know if anyone has I idea what this means or what they are refering to?

Thats a can of worms you really don't want to open.

If that's what Vumatel are saying then chances are their project in that area has fully stopped and won't be returning soon unless they find a solution. Basically, the business form is requesting that e.g 70% of the work is done by the municipality and local employees (workers and trenchers) instead of bringing in ones from other parts of the country. It's way more complicated than that, but it the just of it.

Vumatel will either need to come to terms with the Business Form or just drop the whole project as they did in most of KZN.

Same schit happened in Mitchells' Plain with MPIDF saga... It will delay things quite a bit but I'm sure they'll come to an agreement and work can continue....

Those were dark timespeople wanted to murder the MPIDF. Now that we have fibre what are they up to? Do they even still exist?

Ok so I'm currently using a cheapie Tp-Link W8961 Adsl2+ router, would I be able to use this as an access point upstairs while having the ONT at the bottom dining room area of my house? Also would I be able to connect via LAN?

You should be able to run the router in Access Point mode by changing the settings like this.

Thanks, do they put in some kind of junction box in there to split the fibre or something?

They terminate all the strands in a splice box to an LC connecter. When your installation is done they'll use preterminated cable so no splicing will be required, just plugging it in.
