Hi guys. So I had a cpe installed by vumatel last week and myhousemate plugged in an old do broadband modem so the ethernet goes from the cpe port 1 into the modem and then from the modem to our pcs. He wasable to start browsing immediatly without logging into vumatel.net. I read on the vumatel website that is where you need to go to first. Im sure that my lan card is working I can pick up his pc in log into the modem no problem but my connection has the exclamation mark on it and I cant access vumatel.net and I have tried a couple of ips and obtain automatically. But still nothing

Which ISP are you on? You need a router with a WAN port to use the service correctly.

We are with coolideas. But its just strange the way only one of the pcs in the house can actually use the internet. Even when I plug my pc straight into the cpe like the website says it doesnt work. Ut I can pick up other pcs on the network. Oh right il keep in mind I need a router with wan ty. Coolideas should have brought it to the house already but welcome to africa haha

If you just run a switch into the CPE, one of your PCs will work but the others won't. And the line will then be locked to that mac address.

You need a single mac address presented to the CPE as a dhcp client. Hence, router with wan port.

I remember my PC did the same, I had to change one of my settings (I can't remember what, but it was fixed value, an IP adress, due to MWEB ADSL requirement, and it had to be auto for it to work)

Yeap each service gets issued one public IP, which you need to Nat behind.

Oh right so I need the router with a wan port and then ethernets out? Because whats the point of fibre if I cant cable it to my pc, wifi wont work for gaming

Yeap exactly, we supply a free router with all our packages so on signup what option did you choose?
