Vumatel Price change

for R40 i can go from 50/5 on vox to that on afrihost...

must admit this waiting on vox is just pissing me off

MTS currently still showing old pricing.

That said, I would be saving R150 per month if I switched to MTS, assuming I get the 50/50 for R790. Very interesting :unsure:

What is MTS's support like ?
 
Hi guys so I've been following the thread and decided to give MTS call I spoke to a sales consultant and she explained that vumatel is running a special on these prices and not sure how long the special will last can any1 advise accordingly maybe more info on this as it will be an initial for me

Rather hang on until all ISPs have finalised their offerings. Afrihost's prices look great so far...

no issues personally to speak of - a few down times here and there but resolved relatively quickly - they a bit of a smaller ISP so support times are office hours - but they do get back to you - and seem more proactive with issues (even after hours and weekends)

but as other have advises wait till all the ISP give prices or at least 01 july passes so can see what the market looks like

To confirm is there any bait and switch here? If I move over, will you suddenly jack the prices up in 3 months and go SURPRISE! (other posters are saying this is promotional pricing).
 
@AfriNatic Well done on the new Vuma prices!! I knew you guys won't disappoint!! Great to be a customer of Afrihost!! I have PureDSL and are more than happy with the great internet I get. Vuma was always too expensive for my budget, but with these great new prices, I can finally get fiber at a great price!! Well done Afrihost!!
 
Pretty awesome to see Afrihost pricing super aggressively!

Now on behalf of my brother's landlord who is still using WebAfrica (@WebAfrica Helper ) and paying like R980 per month for 20/20, I'm hoping they will see price cuts as well.

These are not promotional pricing. These are the our retail prices. They are subject to the FNOs like all our prices. We cannot guarantee that Vumatel or any other FNO will not make any price or package adjustment but as it stand this is our standard non promo pricing for Vumatel.

There also been significant changes to Link layer. Drastic price reductions and speed increases by that FNO and we have loaded those prices and Octotel pricing on our website.

Is there a home-connect rep on MyBB that can comment on their reductions if any? Must say that so far I'm very tempted to jump ship to Afrihost. Currently on a 50/5 line with Home-Connect but For R20 more I can get 100/100 with Afrihost.
 
Just to play devils advocate, Vumatel is increasing line speeds and dropping prices but what about the ISPs upstream providers?

I'm on a 1000/100 package with a particular ISP and if i speed test to their own server I get 800+mbps - if i speed test to anyone else in ZA (just local peering) i was getting 40mbps down. Speed test to Los Angeles was a blistering 8mbps. That tells me their backhaul and/or upstream provider they use is shot to next friday and probably seriously over capacity even though Vumatel can easily get my packets to them.

So, what guarantee do we have have that along with the Vumatel upgrades there's going to be upgrades that actually allow this kind of increased data transfer both locally and internationally?
