Vumatel Price change

I hope WebAfrica is following by example. If not July, then maybe August. Else... bye-bye.

Currently, I am paying R979 for a 20/20 line.
Although, it is weird that from the looks of it the 20/20 package will fall away. Both Afrihost and CoolIdeas's new package lists will only have a 20/10 package.

Webafrica is known for being very hipster regarding their down/up packages. Will not be surprised if they have a 1000/1 deal in there somewhere.

@AfriNatic do we need to manually change the packages now or will it automatically change?

My sister is on the 10/10 so do I manually change it for her before the 23rd or leave it?

Just to play devils advocate, Vumatel is increasing line speeds and dropping prices but what about the ISPs upstream providers?

I'm on a 1000/100 package with a particular ISP and if i speed test to their own server I get 800+mbps - if i speed test to anyone else in ZA (just local peering) i was getting 40mbps down. Speed test to Los Angeles was a blistering 8mbps. That tells me their backhaul and/or upstream provider they use is shot to next friday and probably seriously over capacity even though Vumatel can easily get my packets to them.

So, what guarantee do we have have that along with the Vumatel upgrades there's going to be upgrades that actually allow this kind of increased data transfer both locally and internationally?
Who is your ISP?

Took up C Fibre more than 2 years ago, R899 for 20/20 (now R949), but, free activation, installation AND 3 months free fibre (tied to 24 month contract).

Any other ISP offering free months, without activation/installation at these new lower prices? I see SADV has 2 months free but priced higher then their normal package with no activation fees. How is SADV?

Vuma went live in my area recently, I have Afrihost PureDSL 40mbps VDSL installed and the line is rock solid. I am more than happy with the service as everything I do on the internet runs at full line speed. Already done 1.8TB for the month, and line still going solid line speed. If Openserve decides to switch off the DSL copper network, then I will gladly switch over to Vuma and Afrihost fiber. The 50/50 option will probably not make much difference to what I have now, since in most cased I get 4.5mbps + download and have 10mbps upload speed. The 100/100 option looks very tempting. @AfriNatic and Afrihost has always provided me with a super internet service. 5 stars!!

Speeds will automatically be changes from the 1st of July. We have done all the changes in ClientZone on our side which means as soon as Vuma does the changes the news speeds will apply.

Anyone thinking of changing to Mindthespeed (cheapest so far) BEWARE:
I know their prices was posted somewhere, but I don't see it reflected on their website yet.

Also, are those their own 3-month promo prices or are they permanent?

They don't offer the top-end packages on Vumatel either.

They're in the OP here:
Yeah.

Strange that they offer a 70Mbps package. Guess they throttle the 100Mbps down to 70Mbps.

Really happy to see some ISPs getting in quick with the new prices. I guess the others, *cough *cough VOX, will first try to pocket some extra mula from the Vuma price drop before passing those savings on to the consumers. Couple of hundred rand times a few thousand customers and they make a quick buck by delaying the price drop by a month...
