I see the Up! is now in SA, with pretty good pricing. Interested in what you guys think of it. I've always had a soft spot for little city cars, so I think it's awesome.

Little bit on the pricey side for my liking, but then I think all new cars are ridiculously overpriced.

Definitely more "premium" than the Brio though, in terms of overall spec, refinement etc.

Having spent a good few weeks with both, I can say without any qualm that the up! is in a different league to the Brio.

Never driven either. They just look the same. I can't comment on drive, or anything else. But if the Up is not built in India I will buy that instead if I was in the market for such a car.

From my quick check the car seems to be built in Brazil and Slovakia, so yeah.. infinitely better than the crap that comes from the subcontinent.

Ours come from Slovakia, yes... same plant where our Touaregs are built.

Well I've said it before and I'll say it again, this is one little VW that gets my vote. I am really happy it made it to SA and do hope our mindless car buying public will begin to consider it over the clapped out Vivo.

Just use smaller stuff. Luggage don't fit? Use smaller luggage. Passengers don't fit? Use smaller passengers. It's simple.

Meh, doesn't appear to come in automatic. Might have considered trading my '99 Merc C180 manual for it which the ballie drives, as he's been complaining about the manual.

Effectively feels like a small Polo, although unfortunately there is no automatic available in this country, on the other-hand, the clutch is extremely light.

If you're considering getting one, you may want to get the 'Driver Package' as an optional extra.
