Hmmm, I've been struggling ever since UUNet made the change. Have tried a couple of 'workarounds' but BT is in a coma for me :(

What BT clients are you guys using? Myself, Azureus. Even with good seeded files, I only get 1KB at best :(

no, the tracker usually keeps a record of the seeds, it's not up to the client to "find" seeds

If you dont like a service as it is, it is as easy as canceling the account as you previously did. No one going to stop you in doing that. Shaping is part of SA internet, and will stay that way for some time to come. Just live with it or move out of SA.

Surely this kind of attitude is what got us into this mess in the first place. Just live with it dont complain. If enough ppl complain, bitch and moan ( with in context.. not because, for example " telkoms call centres are useless but because they are a kniving money grabbers who dont give a damn and there product sucks") We would have at least 1 other telco here by now, but every one just accepts this and thinks nothing can or will ever be done with so im going to go eat some worms....... :(

I have been using uunet for a while now, yeah they have had lost of issues. BT being the most irritating coz now to get the stuff I want its more time consuming. Though I can now play games again is nice. I do how ever get irritated that what ever i do is sub standard. If i host a ftp server and get some one to upload or download it wont go highter than 10k I have tried a few differant programs aswell. Next problem is my connection becomes so unstable if this 1 person is downloading/ uploading anything. Web pages load randomly I get dissconnected from irc, games. Also if I download from irc its so unstable it jumps up and down and times out 10 to 20 times for 100mb. This also happens for http downloads. Have you ever had to re download a 3mb file that stops at random place 20 times before you get the full file.......... I have even had problems with tucows. Vpn is also ghastly slow to office and from office. Vnc feels like 56k. BT does work again it sits mostly at 0 k and picks up evey now and again seen it at 10k once for about a minute before it dropped to 0.

Now what really pisses me off is that with a syrex account everything works the way it should fast and stable. I would like to know why im having so many hassels. I have spoken to a few other uunet ppl and they dont have these problems..............

No Cake you are wrong, it is the people paying for that pathetic service that keeps them going at it. Only when they loose clients they will make a difference to their strategy. Same with telkom, they know they wont lose clients, so why should they lower their prices?

Bt

Well my BT just sits there now and does nothing, i don't understand how some people are getting it to work on UUNET. I am sitting with one Linux CD and one DVD to download and i can't. Really pisses me off as these are only obtainable via BT and emule downloads at 2k.

Trying to get Xandros OCE and the new Ubuntu 2.73 Gig on DVD, looks real cool, Live and install with lots of apps.

I can put xandros-201-ocd-installation.iso on a ftp for you if you want.

I have xandros-25-business-installation.iso as well but that is not so free...

Hopefully there arent many people willing to accept mediocrity so early in the game.
