Warning : MWEB 4mb uncapped useless on rapidshare

tested a rapidshare and got to 400kB/s before killing it

so the are not just protocol shaping they are shaping by site.
does that mean they inspect and track all site usage as well?

Obviously you don't know that 100gb is not 1tb. pwned.

Was I only directing my commentary at you specifically?

WTF this is an uncapped account, that's what it's for. If you want to buy an uncapped account for browsing rather get a 3gb afrihost account for under R100 mate cause you're only posing as a leecher!

When did I make mention of me wanting to be a leecher?
Am I not against "you leechers" degrading the network?

Uncapped means different things to different people, but everyone jumping up and wanting to rape this mofo till it grinds to a halt is what peeves me off.
But that's why the ToS for Mweb is there and I look forward to them cutting off accounts that rape and pillage their line all day.

So go back to to Axxess it's really of no concern to me - in fact it's with much thanks from me that you should be on your way back to "South African" internet. ;)

zzzzzz

Please people... the only ones really complaining here are the Warez pirates.

Been running at 400+ the whole weekend as of 10pm Friday evening, very stable, excellent product. I can live with a bit of shaping during the week for after hours bliss...

hey everyone i am getting 521 Kb/s from Openweb Premium unshaped DSL

4 Mb/s

Download Accelerator Plus 9 Premium : XTreme! Acceleration

i have a rapidshare acccount that expires in 25 years time

WARNING

The link to the accountextender posted above is a virus!

If you don't believe me, do a google search for "fake rapidshare extender". possibly binded to a keylogger.

beware...

afrihost is only shaped for p2p and not rapidshare (http) downloads..

Glad i sticked with them ^^

yeah... right up until u do more than 30gb. then u are throttled to ****

Mweb uncapped is useless with rapidshare. Signed up for premium account and getting speeds <8kb/s (using download manager with 16 connections!)

Astraweb downloads get stuck near 95% and never complete.

That def has not been my experience thus far, I've got a premium rapidshare account and i neva get less than 150Kb/s on a 4Mb line. I'm using Internet Download Manager.

Getting similar figures. 8am-8pm I get on average 80kBps, after 8pm 150-200, after 11pm-7am around 300kBps....

How is such a variety of experience possible? I got a 384 account for testing purposes and RS premium is at best (5% of the time) around half line speed and at the moment - consistently 0kB/s. Uploading.com, Mega, etc are all fine at almost full line speed. For all practical intents and purposes RS is as good as blocked. Is it possible the 384k accounts are a lot more shaped than the 4M?

What download manager did you say you using? Orbit works very well for me. Also are you monitoring performance between 11pm-7am as that is theoretically when performance peaks... Office hours and early evening are heavily throttled... 25% of max line speed...

Thanks sandmann, I'm using Internet download manager (IDM). Will see what speeds I get tonight at 11pm.

If Mweb is throttling 384k users to 25% of max line speed during the day then that is pretty shortsighted seeing that one can hardly download much at 25% of 384kbps compared to 25% of a 4096k (4-meg) line.

Why punish/throttle the 384k users?

As I said in the other thread, there is no throttling. Ask the question, sure, but don't make an assumption.

FDM with FlashGot. Works fine with my other accounts and the quoted speeds are of multithreaded downloads. Why the special treatment for RS anyway? Torrents are working at full line speed even at the moment and RS is completely dead. If others are so happy with it I'll test the 4M account next month. The 384 is simply unusable for RS.

Look at all the people complaining. Can't believe it. They did say that its not for pirating. SO why are you complaining? Go to another cheap uncapped option. You won't get one that is not shaped during peak time. IS uncapped is shaped mostly to 128k which is 12kbs download. Now Mweb gives p2p atleast 50-80kbs shaping during peak time. And youtube I can still do. After 8pm you will get full speed on everything. Yes its shaped during peak time but isn't that shaped accounts mean?

This is a very good product.
Unfortunately this isn't so. The off-peak time is not fixed. They have such little excess, that if a lot of users decide to turn on their torrents at 7, the speeds will dwindle into nothing. Even on weekends. If the company had been more open about this fact instead of just saying "after business hours", many people would not have signed and paid.
