Warning: Mweb will slow down heavy Internet users

LOL :D It's not like they're the cheapest ISP out there either. I get heavily shaped during office hours with OW Standard Uncapped though, but for the promo price I'm paying, I really can't complain.

Guys I've been using Axxess for a couple of years now, after dropping MWEB, and after Axxess upgraded to the MTN backbone their uptime reached 100%, when compared to their old backbone SEACON and backup IS, worst combo ever! ..in my opinion, we had sooo many network downs due to seacon and had the wonderfull experience with IS...speed = gprs

imaging you have to run a remote server on that dodgy connection combo... I'll rather use 3G for main connection and that for backup

So.. Axxess :) love u guys!

This sucks  my 1Mbps Uncapped AIC has been useless lately...
Question is what to go for ... ?

I say remove the word "Uncapped" from all packages seeing that there are no true uncapped options from MWeb.

Also, stop talking about fair usage and all that sh*t. Tell me that when I have a 1mb package then I can download X amount of Data per month before I get throttled. Same with 2mb, 4mb and 10mb etc...

Don't just leave me to wonder when I will be throttled. I only have 1 month left of my contract. whoooohooooo

I can't see now how mweb will justify the "premium" price now.....

My ISP for one never sends stupid emails like MWEB.
I'm referring primarily to the fact that uncapped is not really uncapped, and that generally restrictive acceptable use policies are applied that make a high fixed cap preferable. I know how much I can use and if I download 6Gb a night for several nights I don't have to worry about any weekly or daily limits, only my total for the month.

"Or, upgrade to another MWEB package to accommodate your higher data usage."
I thought uncapped is the BIG package, for when you really want/need to do lots of internet
Supposed to be i guess :-)
I'm still on capped package as i generally dont do more than 20odd gigs per month, or 30-40Gb in a really rough month with lots of time for netflix, and kids on youtube, etc. so not yet considering the fixed higher amount of uncapped package

so.... are you a 'better' internet user (more 'play nice") if you do 150Gb on a capped package, buying more data bundles as you go along, than the other guy who does 150Gb on an 'uncapped' package, who took to heart the presumption that 'uncapped' means the broadband version of "all you can eat"?

What Mweb Guy had to say so far

MWEB, are the people who made this decision stupid? If its your "premium" product, put your price up so the people on it can experience a "premium uncapped home" service.

Then maybe call your current uncapped service "uncapped light" and then introduce a more shaped (and throttled) service "uncapped medium" or some such (get your creative guys on the names).

As a mweb client (who did not get this mail) I am not pleased. I feel a signature change coming on again...

My first thought when reading this article was "Haha shame to the abusers". Then I checked my mail and I received a letter as well. I couldn't believe it. I am a downloader but never would have thought of myself as a 'network abuser'.

Surely an average of 76gigs a month over the last year (1mb) is not abuse?

LOL MWeb running out of bandwidth? Or is it Naspers applying the DSTV approach to MWeb now? Luckily you can drop them and move to other providers. They are cheaper and better.
