Apparently one needs to register your handsets MAC on the self service portal.

Hi rebel998

Thank you for taking our call.

As per our telephonic discussion I’ll be calling you later today to help you set up your wifi settings.

Please note as a prepaid user you will be unable to add a MAC address at this stage.

The future it’s only available for selected contract packages and as per the device feature for wifi.

Regards
Telkom Mobile

Still no luck. But at least Telkom is working on it. Will provide regular feedback as it becomes avail.

Is there any forumites out there that has successfully got this to work?

Yes I do this. But also only contract users can use the "free wifi".

Not quite. Pre paid users also get some free wifi when recharging with bigger amounts. But yes, if you want to use a laptop you can register the MAC adress.

I want to know if anybody (On prepaid) has actually got this feature (EAP-SIM Aunthentication method) to work?

Surely there must be quite a few prepaid users on the forum??

At least I've now learnt that my phone DOES in fact have the EAP-SIM capabillity.

Now I must just get it to work. :D
