How many people are getting spam that seems to come from legitimate chat contacts???

I prob would not post those links as I can almost guarantee that no good can come from clicking them!
 
Got a similar message from my GF's dad so phoned him and he said he also got a similar message from a friend, so he clicked on the link, his skype "froze" (minimised and wouldn't restore again) his skype then sent me the message. It seemed like someone managed to get access to his skype account and kept on sending me the link (needless to say i never clicked it). So all I did was log into his account on the Skype website and then change his password for him. That seems to have sorted out the problem, going to go and do a virus scan for him tonight and explain that he should never click on dodge links! Does anyone know any more about this "problem"?
 
Are you sure that xxx didn't just have a very weak password for their Skype username & account? - Skype contacts are persisted on Skype's servers, so logging in from any PC running Skype allows access to the same list of contacts, which is how a hacker would have known that you're one of xxx's Skype contacts.

Another possibility is that some malware has found its way on to xxx's PC and is controlling xxx's PC remotely...

The source must have been XXXs girlfriend's pc in PTA who started sending stuff to everybody. Then his started doing so from his office pc in JHB. When informed of the virus like behaviour they didn't know of anything and it seems they cannot see the sent messages on their side...

Where she got it remains a mystery.

Nor mine, because I cannot remember it myself! Stored it in an online email acc. :D Too complex!

If you really want to be scared, try IC's gmail / skype USERNAMES! I am not even going to ask what his passwords looks like! :D
