WARNING to potential 8ta subscribers

I am posting this as a warning to anyone who may be considering signing up for any kind of contract with 8ta.

I signed up for the Internet 5 promo in August 2011. I received my invoices etc, but my account was never debited. I let it ride for a while because I had read on Mbb that some other users had experienced a similar thing. Eventually I phoned in and they told me not to worry, it would be debited soon.

When it got to R1000 I started to worry. When it got to R1200, I decided something had to be done. I phoned them and found out their banking details etc and paid in full. (this was no easy task. It took me about 4 days.)

Around the same time that I made the payment (I think it was a day or two before), my line was suspended.

After sending through my proof of payment umpteen times to the fax number and 3 different emails... and many very frustrating phone calls, I found out that the reference number they told me to use for the payment (Cellphone number) was incorrect. Apparently there is some other arb number that you are supposed to use.

Since then I have been sending my proof of payment through daily, with the incorrect and correct reference numbers very clearly marked on it - to all of the below addresses:

[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]

3 of the above recipients have assured me on the phone that they would personally see that the matter gets sorted out as speedily as possible. None of them have done anything more than that.

I have now been without service for more than 3 weeks. Anyone who tries to run a business will understand the cost of that.

My point is simply this: If you don't mind paying for a service that you aren't getting then 8ta is for you. If you require any level of customer service, or indeed service delivery, then you better look elsewhere.

PS: If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can get this mess sorted out, I would be very glad to hear from you.
Hi
We do apologise about the delay.
We did escalate your issue to the management of our billing department.
Thank you
8ta

Is this an average occurance for 8ta, or an unlucky incident?

my GF had a similar problem - 8ta entered her banking details incorrectly on their system and then threatened her....

I had almost identical problems for four months with their billing and invoicing system. Let's see if we get an invoice at the end of the month, at least the debit order has gone off my account at the end of January.

The same response as always. I have been told this for nearly 4 weeks and nothing has happened.

Sigh. Bad form on 8ta's part and off-putting to potential new customers.

I had a half-day headache trying to sign up for Internet Promo 5 deal but since I've managed to get that done I've been a happy customer.

Still struggling to get decent internet. Have contacted 8ta several times with no real response as to why I am struggling. Ironic that I have to pay R600 to cancel a service that was nowhere near what was promised

Think I'll test the waters with a prepaid sim and a small bundle, random dl's and tests to see how the connection is around here

Do you guys receive any kind of invoice? I haven't received anything?

Despite above, (see any other thread on 8ta) 8ta has screwed the cat again.

Could I suggest that we all make the effort to visit 8ta's Facebook, Twitter etc pages and post our views as I just did.

My problem seems to be sorted out at last... After a full month of no service.

Im not sure if this is what finally did it, but for the last week or so I have been emailing my proof of payment and a very clear description of what I wanted to 5 different 8ta email addresses, about 10 times a day from 3 different emsil addresses.

So my opinion is if you want to get their attention the only way to do it is by spamming them!!
