BTW on radio cops said they did not send out this message they however have dispatched officers to certain areas (sandton CBD was mentioned as there there was a scuffle between some of the metered taxis and uber drivers on the weekend). SO yes we have had issues with them and should be cautious but this message still remains a scare mongering unless someone can verify its source or take responsibility for sending it out.

Same here, the SAPS contact made it clear that do not want to cause panic. They just want to make people aware.

Please explain why saps send out warning emails. That's the main reason its fake, all of those "SAPS" emails and faxes are fake. Check snopes next time first please

I also got it directly from SAPS on our CPF group.
It reads as follows:-
INFO :WE RECEIVED THIS INFO FROM OUR PROVINCIAL OFFICES. Please don't use the mentioned methods of transportation today at least............

CONFLICT BETWEEN UBER AND ALL METER TAXIS GAUTENG PROVINCE 24 APRIL 2017.

*Intelligence received indicates that all Meter Taxis in Gauteng will attack UBER Taxis on Monday 24 April 2017 . This information confirms that the* and ongoing conflict and disputes between the parties concerned will once again result in violence and criminal behaviour by faction groups. It remains the responsibility of all law enforcement in Gauteng to deploy in affected areas and perform interventions preventing any eventualities and arrest all offenders.

Mine also mentioned more about the law enforcement agencies and units involved and the probable hotspots.
 
You guys realise it's a self-fulfilling prophecy, right?

Literally THE ONLY people driving the spread of this message are people trying to "warn" others.

It's like a bloody echo chamber. I bet the police only reacted as a result of these messages floating around - and that reaction gets used to justify more panic.
