Was your salary increase enough?

Got 1% last year... so no real excitement from my side.
Do you see me sit and moan about it? Hell no...
Am doing work from home after hours... I really don't care, cause that is my increase!

Also thought of a side gig, but not willing to risk it with the whole "conflict of interest" thing in my contract.

Which is unconstitutional... and has been proved as such... companies have tried to pull that on me before and failed with costs.
 
Yeah, a company can have you by the balls between 8am - 5pm everyday... but if you choose to use your skills over and above that outside of those hours they can't really do anything to you (UNLESS those skills are very specific to the company itself)

Thank you! :) My current boss even encourages me to do work at home, because he knows he can't pay me what I am worth!
 
I think the rand value is more important than some percentage. I got a lousy 6 percent, which on my current salary is peanuts! :(
 
My last 5 increases have all been about 25%, but this year I didn't get one :( and this year I moved out of my mom's place.
I started on R5k a month 4 years ago, but now stuck under 20k a month.
People at my company this year were bitching because they all got about 5%, but I got f'all.. The reason I didn't get an increase was that I would be promoted very soon. I got an appy, trained him up, and still waiting for my promotion.
I hate my job (System Administrator), I'm supposed to become an analyst developer as I'm a waaaaaaaaay better developer than 90% of the people at this company but nothing is happening... Anyone need a PHP Developer?? :P
 
0.98% increase was what i got.
The month directly after, i got an award for over and above service and excellence etc..

5.6% here.
Tying increases to CPIX is completely unrealistic IMHO. Not to mention the fact that during the period when CPI was over 10% I bet nobody was getting cost-of-living increases that matched that.

Municipal bills take 10% of my nett salary, this year they are 4 TIMES what they were 5 years ago. Fuel increases are nowhere near CPI. Food prices - nowhere near CPI.
 
Still waiting on mine, but I know what our company is making and if I do not see a 10% increase I will start applying for another position at another company.

on that site they explain exactly why CPI is so low. CPI is so much lower than its supposed to be because of products that are cheaper than they were the previous year.
For example, 46" LED TVs are now at 10k, where a year ago they were probably about 50k.
That takes CPI down allot :\
 
You need to compare your increase with your increase in costs of living not CPI, CPI is just a basket of stuff some idiot decided should be in there, what if you don't buy any of that stuff? CPI then becomes pretty useless.

They also change the method of calculating the CPI every year, no one can believe that crap.
