Was your salary increase enough?

I got a nice big fat 0%

CV is out and doing the rounds.

Because everything else about my company is absolutely great. We get a LOT of perks (there was a thread about company perks a while back) and the people are great. I really love where I work and I actually don't hate what I do, either.

I could leave and go elsewhere, sure, and earn more, sure, but no other company is going to let me wear whatever I want, work semi-flexi hours, and let us have as much fun. Its less loyalty to my company than it is really liking where I work. We have had people leave. A lot of them either wish they could, or do, come back within 6 months because the "new place doesn't compare".

Just wanted to add an update on this. I may have gotten a pathetic increase, but I definitely got a very nice bonus. :D Just got my letter yesterday, and I almost fell off my chair. My company did very well so everybody is getting 100% bonuses this year. My bonus is almost 2 months' salary, before tax :wtf: It's pretty awesome. I am not feeling so meh about the increase matter anymore. I have a roof over my head, food on my table, and can afford some nice things in life. I have no right to complain.

I don't get why our company doesn't pay bonuses... they tell us they did over R100 million in revenue this year which is about 10% more than last year, with only R2 million a year more on salaries, which means they can give people some bonuses?

They used to give me a bonus every 3 months that was double my salary and that was just 3 years ago :( Where did that go? :P

Congrats on the bonus guy :D

My fiance's company told them a few days ago that they would not be getting a December bonus. They have always given bonuses in December. I understand that the company may not be doing as well as previous years but to spring that on employees mid December is a tad harsh. At least she has a job I guess.

You'll probably find that as the company grew, they looked for ways to cut costs, and bonuses are one good way. your bonus went into a director's pocket.

I got half a thirteenth cheque and no increase for the foreseeable future.... which could mean 2 years or more.

I've started looking for a new job.

Lucky for some here they get increases. Last year we had to take 10% DECREASES to try prevent our company liquidating, and then no bonuses obviously. It was also probably the hardest we had ever worked. I am a Site Agent in the construction industry and well, still wait for money after that company closed last year.

I say be thankful for what you get in this day and age. I can't stand it when some people who earn huge salaries moan about 6% increase, when their food bill is only a small percentage of their expenses compared to bond/car etc. If you feel cheated, feel free to go look for another job in our battling economy. Good luck.
