WC 2010 Ticket Chaos - Fail!!

The whole queuing thing didn't work at all. In Sandton at the Isle, the queue was virtually going around the building and traffic was insane. Took me 30 mins to travel a couple hundred meters.

Traffic aside, we thought we'd try our luck later in the afternoon to get tickets but the people that were there said they were only taking in 1,000 people and they busy with #200 odd so there was NO way that the remaining people would be served today. Pity a lot of them slept over and probably waited for over 12 hours and left empty handed.

What grates me is that for such a huge event, you would've expected FNB to be prepared and not have their system crumble first thing in the morning.

nah the stadiums and the events will be fine.
This was all just a combination of errors.

the england game shows cat1 & 2 now where it only had cat1 available last nite. wtf is going on here!!!
Thought all cat 4 tickets would be R140, match 63 3rd & 4th is R525. Ripoff!!!

Thanks for the heads up. Could it be that they are releasing blocks gradually? This morning (around 11am) there were no cat 2 seats for the England game.

I camped outside FNB at 6am. I was first in the line. Doors opened at 9am. I waited until 12:30 when the teller finally got the system loaded onto his machine. Only problem was, it kept on saying that the tickets I wanted was unavailable. Everytime the teller try'd to book any tickets, the system would crash.

It took me 2 hours to book my tickets but at the end I got 5 Semi Final tickets.

A big FAIL to FIFA and FNB for this ridiculous ticket system! It was a complete DISASTER!!!

I got the two tickets I wanted, the 2nd and 3rd Bafana games, but would like to get some for a Soccer City game, no matter who is playing.

So when picking up the tickets, do you need to have the name(s), ID No(s) for the guests or what? Because that would be a real PAIN if you don't know who you're gonna be taking with yet.

FIFA announced on Friday that 130,000 World Cup tickets were sold in the first 36 hours of the final phase and 29 of the 64 matches are now sold out, but a number of less popular matchups still have unsold tickets in all four pricing categories.

FIFA ticketing subcommittee chairman Horst Schmidt said there were no more seats available for the final, both semifinals and the opening game between host South Africa and Mexico at Johannesburg's Soccer City stadium on June 11.

All matches in the coastal cities of Cape Town and Durban are also sold out.

Only cat 4 group games cost R140. R 525 is a great price for 3rd place play-off, think of the teams playing that game!

Yes, you need ID numbers of your guests.
