The smiley is because I see some form of contradiction (mentally stable yet committing such gruesome crimes). While I don't have a problem with mad people doing mad things, I am surprised to hear that the majority of violent/hideous crimes are committed by 'normal' people. Either the standard to qualify/pass as normal is very low or 'the judge' does not really qualify either - in which case the first point becomes irelevant.
