Web Africa ADSL general feedback

They were never regarded as Freezone. They were advertised as such, but it would randomly switch to using your cap and then WA would just shrug their shoulders.

I believe the reason for that is because they need to manually update the steam server list from where you can download the games, as steam doesn't coordinate with them directly in updating which CDN's are live and/or steam-approved

anything wrong @ WA? I'm barely getting 512k on my 2mbps (full star rating), seems like someone forgot to flip the switch to "non business hours"

No reported issues on our network on Friday. Did you contact our support team to see if they can assist?

Naw, had better things to do than sit and bitch at support on a Friday night :)

Came right during the course of Saturday though. One thing that's a bit annoying is, when you max out your line in a download, your web surfing suffers (disconnects you and you have to refresh before anything happens). Happens on a single threaded download (not like torrents or multi-threaded downloaders)

Can someone please tell me what is the price of a 2Meg uncapped account form WebAfrica. I was under the impression the the price have come down to R199. But i have received and invoice for R239.

It should be R199. Just report it to WA via their ticket system

Someone please explain this to me:

I canceled my account on 6 January (so that, from my understanding of their policies, it ends on 28 Feb) because, quite frankly, I was tired of dealing with WebAfria's **** and now I get an invoice from them for the month of March... What is the reason for this invoice? Am I expected to pay again?

How did you cancel?

I canceled via Customer Zone. I even emailed their support (I wasn't sure if it went through) who confirmed that it was canceled and would require 1 calendar month, ie. ending on 28 Feb.

Even now on the Customer Zone it says "Pending Cancellation"... whatever that means.

Yeah, that's how I cancelled (this is when they had their own IPC) but I didn't email anybody. Somebody phoned to ask why I was cancelling though, offering 25% discounts, but I didn't take the bait.

It should say "Pending Cancellation" until 28 Feb and I wouldn't worry about the invoice, until next month IF they debit you.

Looking at the 4mb home uncapped option, would 200-300GB usage a month cause me to get throttled? If I download files overnight and just stream and play games online during the day.

Hi Voxratio,

It should definitely be cancelled at the end of Feb 2014 with no billing for March. Please PM me your customer code or email address and I will take this up with our team.

I have sent a PM to WAJustinW 2 days ago and have heard nothing back. The ticket I have logged 4 days ago is still open with no response.
So must I just ignore the invoice for R239 and just pay R199 ?

That's what I would do - if R 199 is the right amount, then pay the amount as per the website

I would just pay the R 199 which is what I am on - their billing system is kinda broken - it will show your invoice as unpaid till a week into the new month while they recon their accounts. But it does come right ...

Hi Viper2110,

Apologies for the late reply. I have replied to your PM and our team is looking it as we speak.
