Does anyone know since what date WA started billing different prices for 4mbps and 10 mbps lines ?
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
I experienced higher gaming latency and what felt like general browsing sluggishness yesterday evening. If it continues today I'll open a ticket with WA Support and try to supply relevant test data.
Two other people I know who are with WA also mentioned similar issues last night, we are all in the Cape Town area, Edgemead, Durbanville, etc.
Can someone give me feedback on the capped accounts? There doesn't seem to be much (maybe a good thing)
Pity its not pro-rata though... don't really feel like spending R600 on a 200GB...
Also interested, looking into the 120gig +120 after hours package, capped R399.
I've tried WA for a few months last year - was great, but they fell behind in dropping their prices so I shifted over to AH and Axxess (home accounts across all) - and as a big Netflix watcher the experience on MTN (AH/Axxess) was horrid compared to IS (Web Africa).
Back on WA this month, 4mb uncapped, 72GB, still on 5 stars. My downloads are queued for midnight-6am and capped to 20kb/sec (total) during the day - watch netflix in the evenings and I'm quite happy to be back.
how many can u use in the day b4 u drop a star?
The most amazingly competent and helpful lady phoned me this morning to provide feedback on my line speed problem.
I'm ashamed to say her name escapes me but i think it is Monique. Justin would you be kind enough to correct me if that's not right?
WA have really made an effort to sort this out and they've shown that they're able to give fantastic backup service when it's needed.
Although my line hasn't been fixed the fact that Monique (?) took the trouble to phone and give a bit of personal attention makes the world of difference. She changed me from a sulky customer to a happy camper simply by picking up the phone.
Wonderful lady, thanks to her and to you Justin. I hope Telkom manage to resolve the line issue sooooooooon.
yes, JP is good. seems as if they're improving their service??
if so, WA will be on the way to being the best ISP.

Doing 180-250GB a month on 4Mbit home uncapped will probably get you down to 3 stars (possibly 2 stars) if you do bulk of the downloads between 12-6am, talking from experience, because I assume you will still use the internet outside of those hours, doing youtube streaming or streaming in general, browsing and all the other goody things you do on the interwebs. My apologies if this has been asked before:
I'm trying to decide between 180Gb capped or 4Mb uncapped for the same price.
How different is the speed between Home Capped and Uncapped if I stay on 5 stars?
I generally only download between 12 and 6 anyway but my monthly total ends up being around 250Gb. Browsing / Youtube during the day and the occasional download. Also use VPN a bit for working from home.
I could cut 70Gb out of my use without too much hurt but if the performance between the accounts are similar I might as well go uncapped and not worry about use.
Anyone have experience with both accounts that can comment? Especially interested in the speed of the occasional daytime download and VPN performance.

- Home Capped at least will always perform better during the day than a 4 stars home uncapped account during business hours.
- 5 stars they will be close to the same, but you will probably have to drop your monthly usage down to below 100GB / month to stay on 5 stars.
- After hours, they will most probably perform the same regardless of stars. This count if you don't worry about using the internet from 8am to 5pm.
raptor,
your on 4mbps ? and on home uncap?
i am also with openweb orange gold 6mbps
it ends the end of this month
Doesn't look like it, they only listed the "business static uncapped pro" product and no "business static uncapped" product. Can anyone confirm that I can get a static IP with the business uncapped account?
Not the business uncapped pro.
Hi
A few quick questions ... I have looked on the WebAfrica site but could not find the answer...
With the Capped Buisness accounts, does the unused data fall away or does it carry over somehow?
If it is carried over, for how long?
If it does not carry over, can I downgrade to the smaller package for the next month or will it involve a 30 day notice period as well?
I might see that instead of 15GB I might use 9GB. so next month rather use 2x5GB instead of 1x15GB....
What if I want to upgrade, downgrade or cancel?
You can upgrade or downgrade at any time simply by logging onto our DSL management console online and choosing your new package. Upgrades are instant; downgrades are activated at month end if initiated before the 20th of that month.
Web Africa doesn't do contracts so if you want to cancel our service, just give us a calendar month's notice - it's as simple as that! And although we can't speak for the other guys, we have no hidden setup or cancellation fees or any sundry costs.
Data expires month end and with regards to upgrading/downgrading - from their website:
