Web Africa ADSL general feedback

@eye_suc - and with another account you don't have that problem? Cos that looks like exchange congestion if your first hop looks like yours does.

Looks like exchange problems...you will probably notice that late in the evenings things run a bit better, during the day it is terrible.

This was late at night :D During the day my internet is fine. At the moment I'm getting full speed again on both accounts.

I don't know what is going on, but I will be keeping an eye on it.

Yeah, it all depends where your exchange is. If it's in a business area, if there's congestion, it will be around business hours, and vica versa with exchanges in residential areas.

PM TelkomZA, hopefully they can move you to another one.

But before that, must play some Battlefield before the line goes to pot again. Can't play during the week :(
 
I just signed up for home uncapped 2 meg for R199 . Was 5 star rating. Have only downloaded between 12:00am and 06:am as ive heard it doesn't count towards your star rating.

Yet when I checked now im sitting on 3 stars. How is that ?

You didn't use your account at all between 6:00-12:00?

Star rating on all IS home uncapped accounts does seem to be much harsher these days tho :(

You will most likely get more out of the R199 capped account ;) - plus they much better accounts to start off with :D
 
Just a heads up to JustinWA/Webafricahelper.

Your ADSL support seems to have improved radically. I've had to phone them a couple of times recently, always had quick response time and competent, pleasant assistance. Mujeeb and Tariq have been especially good and Ricardo too.

Most important is the shorter wait on the phone. I'm hoping the system has been revamped and that i haven't just been lucky.
 
With the news of MTN buying AfriHost, I'm looking to move ISP's. I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but sifting through 219 pages of thread for an answer may prove tedious :D What's the gaming performance like on a 10MB Web Africa uncapped business line? Am I likely to experience no drop in performance switching over from 10MB AfriHost Business?

It will do you very well. If you want to test, try out the free 1 GB capped account.

For gaming we would recommend going for a Home capped or even Business capped as the priorities and bandwidth quality is better that uncapped.

Try out our 2GB for life account to test the home capped and see how it performs for your needs.

I'm on Business uncapped and can tell you that everything from international gaming to international streaming have all been 100% without any issues whatsoever.

So Business Uncapped accounts don't have full priority? Capped unfortunately won't meet our needs, so if Business Uncapped isn't a priority service then it we'll have to look elsewhere unfortunately.

Seems a rushed decision. Reading what Afrihost is saying, for all intents and purposes, nothing is going to change.

Why not wait and see first?
