Web Africa ADSL general feedback

downgrade?

The downgrade options are only available for the end of the next month? It looks like you can only upgrade immediately.

very conveniently, the cancellation option on the website doesn't seem to work.

Sorry to hear you leaving us  What are the reasons, perhaps I can assist?

Downgrades are the same as cancellations so we need a full calender months notice. If you still having trouble processing the cancellation please PM me your account details and I will assist.

The accounts are way to throttled for a capped account during the day. I've noticed its been getting worse and worse over time, and I'm not prepared to wait till next week to see if it comes right, and then only be able to cancel end of August.

17h00 - on the dot, my download speed starts increasing
17h15 - my downloads have magically increased to 1MB/sec.

So daytime shaping has definitely been increased.

@WebAfrica Helper - I'd like to know if this is permanent, as I'll be cancelling my account if this is the case.

Day 3 as a new Webafrica client... my DSL console refuses to load...

bummer :(

I must admit, it was quite a while ago for me ;)

Cancel button should work tho, with the usual 30 day calendar month wait, which is why I choose connection.co.za over WA.

I see that there is still the problem with throttling on capped accounts. Just started a DL and for a minute runs at full 10 meg line speed then drops to below 400 kbps and seems to be sticking here.

The reason I have a capped account is for top class speeds regardless of time.

Shocking WA - maybe they have oversold or not made enough provisions :(

Switch to my back up account and running full 10 meg without a glitch

On Business Capped my 4mbps line usually runs at near max speed all times of all days. I assume you're on Home Capped (non-Pro)? I suppose if you really want to be assured of best speeds at all times while everyone tries to download stuff, you could try Business Capped Pro for the highest priority. It's a bit difficult to give useful performance info on a 4mbps line, because the prioritization/throttling only seem to be noticeable on the faster lines in general.

Yep it is the home uncapped (and one of their legacy accounts) and until recently, the limited DL's I have done during the day has been great, but the last two days have been shocking

I do not see why WA expects us all to move to business accounts just so we can get decent performance. In addition, I seldom DL during the day anyway, so do expect on the odd occasion to get proper performance

I'm paying for a capped account, I do not expect to see performance worse than a cheaper uncapped account.

Again today, 150K/sec on a 10mbps, capped account. I'm PAYING you for bandwidth I use, yet I can only use it at 1mbps speeds? Pretty sure the last line ISPs fed us was "if you want good speeds any time, use capped instead of uncapped". Now suddenly it's "if you want good speeds anytime on capped, use Business accounts". Sorry, not falling for it again.

Not even any feedback from WA. At least it's still the 30th, and I can cancel. So long WA, thanks for all the fish.

Speeds are shocking lately.

And no response to two tickets. Glad I've cancelled, even though they haven't acknowledged it - the tickets are logged, and I won't accept some excuse.

This pink bar is all you get when you try cancel.

The reason I gave for canceling was "This really shouldn't be a mandatory field".

Haha. "We are truly sorry to see you go! Is there is something we can do to win you back? Please give us a call"

I should call YOU? Thanks for laugh, WA.

I'm getting 0 Kbps... Guess I won't be using the rest if my bundle because it's not possible.

I'm half expecting them not to give me that promotional extra 50GB of data next month as a punitive measure.

Hi Guys,

We are making changes to the shaping of P2P traffic after hours on our capped accounts as it should not shape after 5pm and over weekends so you should see an improvement this evening. Sorry about the after hours issue but it should be resolved today.

We have seen a massive spike in P2P traffic as it nears the end of the month and to ensure that it doesn't negatively affect the network and user experience it has been shaped during the day on all Home based accounts. We need to strike a balance with what protocols are more important and you will notice that the other essential protocols are running smoothly.

If you still having issues PM me your account details so I can investigate but no issues at the moment with our DSL console.

Is there still such a thing as FreeZone on the WebAfrica accounts?

I've just downloaded a few maps from ftp://ftp.wa.co.za and it has gone through as normal cap usage.

Yes, Freezone is still there and ftp.wa.co.za is included. PM your account details and info on when you downloaded from the FTP server so I can get our team to investigate why it has come off your normal data.
