Let me get this straight - this is the first time, in how many years of WA being in business, that you've realised there's extra traffic at month-end and you need to provision extra capacity?

And I should also accept that for the last week of each month, my account will be throttled into the ground and network performance will degrade to the point of not even being able to stream a video, because you guys can't be arsed to provision the extra capacity I'm quite sure you realise you need? And then what, on the 1st of each month you go "Oh hey guys, all sorted, network's back to normal!"?

No thanks. If you could arrange for my cancellation to be immediate without the need for the calendar month's notice, I'd be happy not to strain your network further over July.

Is it only Cape Town that experiencing slow speeds? I haven't seen anything wrong here in Durban - Home capped.

Edit, also just tested cancelling my product and it seems to work, then 'uncancelled'.

Is all the protocols on your account slow? The only thing affected during office hours in P2P traffic. Nothing else should be the problem.

NNTP crawls along at 150k/sec on a 10mbps line. Video streaming is patchy. The moment the clock strikes 5pm, NNTP speeds pick up until they're full again at about 5:15pm.

Could you provide some trace route and speed test results as the streaming is the problem. All other protocols should work as per normal.

No problems with the line, and speedtest is normal as I'm sure WA along with every other ISP in SA gives top priority to speedtest traffic.

Is NNTP considered a P2P protocol now? Streaming is a lesser problem for me - my main concern is the inability to download anything during daytime should I need it.

traceroutes to NNTP servers and youtube are all sub 180ms internationally and sub 30ms locally, with no timeouts on any hops.

The cancellation request has been submitted and will be cancelled at the end of July 2014.

Hi Guys,

We are making changes to the shaping of P2P traffic after hours on our capped accounts as it should not shape after 5pm and over weekends so you should see an improvement this evening. Sorry about the after hours issue but it should be resolved today.

We have seen a massive spike in P2P traffic as it nears the end of the month and to ensure that it doesn't negatively affect the network and user experience it has been shaped during the day on all Home based accounts. We need to strike a balance with what protocols are more important and you will notice that the other essential protocols are running smoothly.

So you give away a whole lot of bandwidth and then your have capacity problems and have to shape capped account? And then you start coming up with stories of end of month etc.

Uncapped you have stars and this way you keep people in checked on your "uncapped" accounts. The reason we have capped accounts is so we can choose how to use then, when we want and not be punished.

Poor service and planning WA and poor that you are willing to make capped account users experience suffer

I've always said that capped accounts should rollover to stop this crap.

Thank you - received - hopefully you guys can sort out your issues, but I really don't think the level of throttling applied to this account is fair, a 4MB uncapped account performs better.

I now have 20GB I was not able to use because of your network issues. (and I had a whole queue of stuff up that I need for work)

Unused capped bandwidth is far too big a revenue stream.

They actually build this into the price of the accounts. They actually lose money if use all your cap.

VOX's data rolls over. That's one of the reason's they are more expensive.

Best excuse I ever got from them was the GTA 5 and IOS7 updates was the reason for less than 1mb speed on a 10mb line.

The rollover interests me, though the price difference is rather marked. Do you use VOX personally? If so, how's performance generally? I believe they're on IS bandwidth too?

I had a 40GB account from that I used for a few months and they are brilliant. EVERYTHING worked at line speed. Torrents, Netflix and Twitch all worked beautifully.

Best account I've ever used.

Just note that their uncapped products don't use their backbone and actually are resold IS accounts.

I'm specifically looking at a capped product, as I've had it with uncapped accounts in SA and I generally don't use more than 300GB on a VERY busy month.

So their capped accounts are on their own backbone? That's even more interesting - thanks for the info - perhaps my notice period with WA will be a good time to trial a small capped package with VOX.

Yeah, I used their FATPIPE product on their own backbone.

I also don't use more than 300GBs a month, but hard to drop uncapped. Even though business uncapped costs more than what a capped package would cost me.

I considered getting a 50GB account in month 1 and not use so it rolls over to month 2 where I would upgrade it to a 300GB package. That way I would have a nice "buffer" always.
