I think you're overthinking this. I'm on Business uncapped and the account is great. No complaints.

Good one! Thanks for that - mebbe I am overthinking this. Naw, am just naturally curious as what other folks are thinking is all.

I'm in the eastern cape. Streaming was as good as always today. Line speeds as well. The only issue I'm having is with downloads from 12-6. I used to average around 1MB/s - basically non-existent for the last three days. I called technical support- was told that nntp traffic is a best effort service-someone was gonna look into it and call me back on Monday.
 
Does anyone know if WA shape real-time streaming traffic based on your star rating as well ?
 
Just for interests sake, below are pinged trace route results to a server cluster in Dallas (where I have a webserver). Data were measured using WA home capped on 4Mbps, from about 8pm Saturday to 8am Sunday. Resolution of the 12hr plot is one ping every 15s. There was one recorded incident of packet loss just before 9pm - not unusual on any network. Consistent latency, not ragged. These data look very good (keeping in mind that measurements should be done systematically over time)...

No. Trial account is the same as home capped AFAIK. Maybe low due to a bottleneck (congestion?) somewhere on your network route? Try speed testing at different times.
 
Im using a capped webafrica account, last night 2pm I tried to download an iso with an accelerator.
Maxed out at 600kb, switched to telkom,1000kb, switched back to WA and hitting limiter at 600kb.
Will be doing more test tonight, but this is horse****
 
i was thinking of moving to Webafrica capped from Afrihost. Does webafrica shape their capped traffic at all? (afrihost doesnt).

I see they have Home and Business capped...not sure what the difference is? I mainly Game, download the odd torrent (by far my lowest bandwidth usage) and stream netflix.
