Web Africa ADSL general feedback

How did DL+ go for you guys this morning? For me it was very erratic and a bit slow. Normally I can download at really good, consistent speeds and this morning it has been all over the place. Hopefully I will still finish what I had scheduled in time

Hi Jeff

DL+ was terrible last night. Took 3 hours to download 1.9 gigs, which on a 6 meg line should download in an hour. Any ideas? Thanks

Can't really tell at this stage.
Is anything else slow?
What are you downloading?
Where are you downloading from?

Have not been using my computer a lot. Things were a bit slow on the net during the afternoon yesterday but did get better in the evening.

I was downloading from WA news server TV programmes that had been uploaded within the past 24 hours. DL+ normally is consistently good for me, bar the odd occasion.

Anyway let's see what happens in the next day or two, and thanks for the follow up

Wow a new era of slowness today. Everything times out from League of Legends to my absa online banking and even gmail takes atleast 15min to load. This all on a 4mb line. What is going on?

broken

Mine's broken completely now - it stopped working, I switched to another provider, but now when switching back, it doesn't work at all anymore...

Yes i switched to another provider and now its down........ No authentication........

Sigh only webafrica gets these authentication problems. This happened so many times before too. Sigh

Last few days have been painful. Only thing missing is the noise from my 28.8k modem.
Have had authentication issues, speed issues, erratic website access. I thought the Seacom cable was fubar'ed not WA!

yeah authentication problem logged on there website.

Hey guys,

I'm following up with the networking team on getting some updates for everyone.
Authentication problems have been present and we're working around the clock on getting these sorted.

Around the speed issues, can you guys let me know what exactly is slow? Browsing, streaming, downloading etc.

Post up some tracert's - might help a bit :)

This is bad. Now why should I still stick with WA - 1 good reason please? We can use any other ISP and my Vodacom account is working. Now if I am dependent on another ISP to get connected, why not just stay with them? It is not an "inconvenience" to not have access to service you pay for. It is unprofessional. They should send out at least an apology to their clients - surely they do have the e-mail addresses?
How the heck do they get it wrong - again. What about getting some help in from professionals to do the job and provide an estimate time of resolution?
As per their web-site:

Have had no problems at all. Maybe fortunate that my modem logged in at 0700 on both days.

Sent from my U20i using Tapatalk

The issues would only be present when your modem dropped and needs to re-connect or you try and open a PPPoE connection to WA.

Intermittent authentication issues may still be experienced, please be advised that this issue has been escalated to the highest level with our engineers and has been given top priority to ensure that it is resolved in the shortest possible time.

So?

My intl browsing speed has been dead slow all day on my WA account. I get half my usual speed on Youtube vids, facebook can barely open and voice cuts out when using chat software. Definitely something wrong since it is crawling.

Check out this packet loss, I get 50% to 75% packet loss to intl sites:
C:\Users\user>ping nytimes.com

Pinging nytimes.com [199.239.136.200] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 128.241.244.54: Destination net unreachable.
Request timed out.
Reply from 128.241.244.54: Destination net unreachable.

Ping statistics for 199.239.136.200:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 2, Lost = 2 (50% loss),

I usually log in to my backup account with another ISP to compare speeds etc. but I'm hesitant to do it now since WA is experiencing authentication problems, then I can't log back in again on my primary WA account.

I'm having issues on secure sites mostly. Gmail, LogMeIn, etc. Again. Tried rebooting the router, got my same IP address, but everything still the same.
