Web Africa ADSL general feedback

To be fair, that's why they are called home accounts. They are designed for people that work during the day and get home at night.

If you want full speed p2p during business hours you need a business account.

But these are capped accounts so one should be able to choose - within reason - when to use the cap without been punished during the odd time in the day.

Anyway this is a hang up I have had with capped accounts been treated as uncapped

Why should a home user have to spend a whole lot more to be able to do the odd DL during the day by having to upgrade to a business account. I think the marketing department just loves feeding us this lie.

Rant over

Problem is people want cheap accounts. With Afrihost selling bandwidth below cost this is what ISPs have to do unfortunately.

I don't like it either.

Is anyone else getting abnormally high ping? Tried playing a match of dota 2, but even while playing on the SA server the ping wouldn't drop below ~600 ms.

Did a speedtest, got the following result...

Hows life on the WebAfrica front?

Im curious to know what ppl think of WA and if there are any issues.

Hey Bedford, WebAfrica are really solid. You get good service and good quality product. They just aren't very good when it comes to dealing with Telkom on your behalf.

Then again, who is good at dealing with Telkom?

(This is strictly from my own experiences.)

Web Africa Business is awesome. Don't see myself changing any time soon. Everything just works that other ISPs hae issues with.

VOX is ok for capped.

Look at how much data you need. Web Africa has nice cheap after hours data.

Ye im mainly looking at a capped account. Appreciate the input, Ill probably make a decision this afternoon.

recently their Fatpipe hasn't been too good, and their support has been less than helpful. My 50GB account had 42GB left but was capped and support took over a day to fix it.

Go back a few pages and take note of the few that has expressed some concerns regarding the UNCAPPED home accounts and some with there Business CAPPED accounts and the speeds we are receiving even though we are on the 5 star rating.

Web Africa Helper has yet to respond to any of our complaints and generally skips over these posts.

Other than the speed issues that we suffer from during business hours (when we shouldn't), the UNCAPPED product is solid if you do most of your bigger downloads between 12am and 6am.

So make sure you have all your information before jumping down someones throat for swaying you to go with WA, unless you end up being one of the lucky few who's account performs as it should.

Hi Guys,

I finally received feedback around the Home uncapped issues and our team have picked up a few issues with the profiles and are working on implementing a fix. Things should improve by next week.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and I will let everyone one know once the fix is done. Home Capped accounts are still pretty amazing and if your usage is not high we would recommend a capped account instead :D

thank you for keeping us posted :D

just strange it happens everyday at the same time, thats when you guys switch from business to afterhours? that switch was the prob

The capped accounts are good value for money but If you want to download during business hours you are going to be very disappointed. Was home earlier this week at lunchtime and got 100KB/s on a 10MB line(NNTP).I had to switch over to Afrihost to get 100% line speed.

If you looking to download P2P/NNTP then a business capped package is what you will need.

How do these account work with torrents? Are you limited to when you can download at full speed etc? I do about 250-350GB per month, not all torrents, but some of the data we use is distributed via torrent so downloads have to be full speed during office hours.

Before I confuse you rather first tell me what your line speed is and what times of day do you download the most? :)

10MB line but I currently have a 8mb business uncapped about with Afrihost (which has been a mess the past few months). Downloads could be any time of the day, but mostly during offices hours.

10 Business will be fine.

Just try schedule 50GBs for after hours and you'll never be shaped.
