Im guessing the thresholds are secret?
Ok, since you can't answer that, will you be downloading 24/7 or only over night?
Do you watch a lot of Netflix/YouTube/Twitch?
My usage is average 150GB+, but in cases of large updates, storage failures etc. it can increase. Random hours, mostly over night.
If a new road was being built and you had to enquire about the speed limit, would you find "how fast do you plan on driving" useful?
If a new restaurant was being built and I asked how much do you eat would it make better sense?
Can anybody shed some light on what the thresholds for 2Mb home uncapped and businesses uncapped are?![]()
Going by that post, if you buy a capped account, you will know exactly how much usage is available to you, and you will know exactly how to plan it, no?Nope. Every restaurant prints on the menu how many grams that R100 steak you're about to order is
how much bandwidth people use varies from month to month. Some months I buy 1 game from steam, some months 5 from xbox live. Some weekends I go away, others I sit on hulu all weekend. Knowing what's available to you is vital when it comes to planning your usage and helps a hell of a lot more when it comes to choosing what package to go for.
I've been looking at the signing up for a business account. My wife is going to be on leave for pretty much the whole of December and she streams a lot. Crossing fingers that it will be enough.

I'm also thinking of changing to WebAfrica.
Should I rather get 2mb business account or 4mb home account?
Do not really download alot (p2p) but steam (when buying/dowloading games) and updates is done during the day. Would it be influenced if I only take a home account or is p2p more the thing thats being "shaped".
Thanks for any feedback.
Regards.
Any downloads during the day will count towards your thresholds.
I would recommend only downloading your big games after you've gone to sleep.

In other words doesn't matter which account I take? Just speed that's going to be the difference?
Thanks for the reply and help. Appreciate it.
One last question. Is there some kind of system in place that one can check out that will let you know if you need to slow down?
Yes there is a control panel. Home uses a 5 star system. Business a 3 level system.
But remember downloads at 00:00 NEVER EVER count.
And that is until 6:00?
I had this, or some variation of it at least.

After I made some VPN changes, it was still happening but less frequently and only a while after I made those changes. Eventually I had too many DNS issues getting to hosts on the VPN (public and internal IPs differed), so I restored the VPN adapter order. I then decided to set my router's DNS cache TTL to 8 seconds. The first few times gmail did the slow-go thing, I imagined that it recovered faster, but pretty soon I realised it doesn't and so restored the DNS TTL.
All in all, only see it on WebAfrica too, but it happens far less frequently than it did before and nothing else is ever wrong, so while gmail sorts itself out, I just read some mybb![]()
