Web Africa ADSL general feedback

Well I thought I would try out Web Africa and I have to say as a new client I am totally shocked with the experience.

First I signed up with you and clicked on the debit order option which was fine until I received a stupid form which does not print properly and would not let me sign electronically. I then sent in a ticket to change the option to a credit card without realizing you already had a credit card in the system from me (must have been from a long time ago) so it tried to bill (a day after I sent the ticket) and I received an email saying the card was declined.

I then updated the card details in the system and thought I would use the live chat to speak to billing so they could put the card through again. I spoke to some dude called Ismail who says he is from hosting and cannot help me as the billing guys are offline but he would get them to contact me ASAP - of course nothing happened.

After that I thought I would send in another ticket about the card which was nearly 5 hours ago but still no reply.

I then thought I would phone and after being on hold for 20 minutes I gave up.

Finally, I thought I would try the live chat again, and end up with Tapelo or something in hosting who just ignored me for 8 minutes after I complained that I can't get hold of anyone.

For a new customer it has been a nightmare and I will be moving along to somewhere else.

I Have just spoken to our engineers who advised they have implemented a fix so any new cases will need to be investigated on a case-by-case basis.

Send me your account details via PM and ask then to check your account.

You haven't replied to my PM when I gave my account details.

Just cancelled my Afrihost account and looking to sign up for a WA home capped account.

Can anyone tell me whether there are any measurable differences between capped and capped pro? I understand the idea behind the two wrt prioritising, but I wanted to know whether priority is ever really felt/needed? Any insight?

i will say,not really,if u torrent in the day, with the cap,the pro will be better

but if u leave that for after hours/and normal streaming in the day
the home cap will work great

there cap is awesome :)

Why don't you start with capped and if not happy, move up to the capped pro?

I am on capped and am happy but it would depend on your needs and how you use it.

The bit I'm always wondering about is why there is Home Capped Pro and Business Capped non-pro. They are in the same priority group and the same price. If business gets some kind of extra little bit of priority during business hours, then home capped should get the same outside business hours to balance it out. But, I don't want that.

Business gets priority all the time.

Home is designed to be cheap.

Oh, that last "home capped" should have been "home capped pro". They cost the same, so why would you choose the Home option if Business is better? I don't really care, just kind of wondering if there's unnecessary overlap. Maybe it's just marketing, I imagine some people will be puzzled about getting a business-named product if they are not a business or something.

Just to confirm:

If my line were upgraded from 10mb to 20mb the WA capped accounts will perform at max line speed IE 20mb?

The reason I ask is because this is in fact the case but I'm still seeing 10mb speeds on the account in question. The line is managed by Cybersmart so I'm assuming although the line is syncing at 20mb they have it on a 10mb profile?

Web Africa's capped accounts work at 100mb/s if you're on the fibre trial.

That is what I was planning on doing, considering there is quite a significant price difference between the two on higher cap offerings.

For regular use, I'm sure a standard service would suffice. The areas in which I have suffered in the past on other ISPs are Youtube and streaming to/from Twitch, which are pretty important for me and would be my first priority in terms of looking for reliability.

So much for THAT idea. Still no feedback on any of the multiple communication channels I have now tried with WA. seems like they don't want me as a new customer. Guess I'll heed your wishes and take business elsewhere... bit of a poor show :/

If they're the same price, they are probably the exact same account with different names.

Huh?

If you want to sign up you can do it from the website. No need to contact them...
