Hi Bursty-Dude,

The cost of bandwidth differs for different times of the day so moving this data to anytime will mean an increase in the package cost which is not what we want to do as we always want to provide more data but without passing costs onto the consumer.

How about letting users convert night time data to any time data at a 4:1 ratio? So on a 40GB/160GB package you can get up to 80GB any time data if you want. Or maybe even an option to do that automatically if you reach your any time cap - drain the night time data 4 times faster.

We just increased the download plus data at the beginning of the month so the KB article is a bit outdated:eek:. I have let our team know that they need to update it and thanks for bringing it to our attention ;)

This is a permanent change not a promo so how long will it last you ask? FOREVER!! :D
I just want to make sure.

I current have the free 2GB account.
I can change to the 300GB account(60 + 240GB) for R199.00/pm and and I can expect full line speed (4Mbps) all day long?
Is the bandwidth shaped or unshaped?

So after the port reset I came home. Internet still slow. So i switched to the WA test account, which was also slow with pings ranging in the 700 to Webafrica.I then tried an Afrihost test account, same problem. When i tried switching back to my main account it doesn't authenticate. So i don't get an IP. From incredibly slow to dead now!

I'm back online after more than 24 hrs. Haven't tested the line speed yet, but it doesn't feel too bad.

I'd just like to mention that due to my line issues my router gets reset multiple times a day, yet I haven't had any auth issues.

The bandwidth is prioritised according to the profile the account is on. Home capped accounts are on the 'Titanium' profile.

We do deprioritise P2P and NNTP traffic on Home capped accounts during business hours (weekdays -06h00-17h00) but all other protocols will perform great. On ADSL we cannot guarantee that you will get full line speed but more as close to line speed as possible due to the infrastructure.

Thanks for the suggestion Aessa :) I sent your post to our Product team for review.

Anyone having issues authenticating? I keep getting a no response back...

This freaking sucks ass...

As per my post below please do the tests and forward me the results via PM. Thereafter, please switch your router off for about 15 minutes so that you can be assigned a new I

Hi Guys,

Just to give you some info around this issue, due to Telkom migrating all their DSL infrastructure away from old Cisco ESRs (Edge Service Router), to new Alcatel BNGs (Broadband Network Gateway) it sometimes causes some IP ranges to be allocated to multiple routers, instead of one. This means the affected IP range will not work on one or more of the BNGs.

We need to escalate this to Telkom so if you are affected i.e: no throughput, please send me a PM with the following:

  1. Your ADSL username;
  2. IP address you've been assigned to at the time where there is no throughput;
  3. A traceroute while it is not working;

Once we have this info we will get Telkom to fix the issue. In the meantime as a temp fix please disconnect your router for 15 minutes so that you can be assigned a new IP that is not within the affected range. If it's still not working thereafter the reset please try again so that you may be assigned a new IP.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and we should have this issue fixed soon.

This doesn't work when you can't get an IP on your Webafrica Account

Doesn't help when you can't authenticate. Did receive your PM though thanks. It just sucks that I can't really do anything until I'm home later, and I really hate having to phone in especially for a fault that isn't on my side...

So I made a ticket concerning the problem I had a few days ago, the day after the connection was fine again, said thanks to the person who helped, and closed the ticket. Now it's starting again D:. Sitting with over 400 ms ping to most local game servers, speedtest also gave a rather nasty result concerning ping. Please help! (this was to a place relatively close to where I live :/)
