Hey WA
My line speed has recently dropped from 10mb to 7mb. I checked my line with WA support and apparently Telkom say 7mb is the new optimum speed, even though I've been syncing flawlessly at 10mb for years.

What can I do, if anything, to get the line bumped up to full speed? Nothing has changed on my side?

What is a download defined as? If streaming and browsing are the only things the account is used for during daytime will it be effected?

You should be ok then. All depends how many GBs and your line speed.

Another victim of Telkom's new management software.

This software will look at your line stats and decide what speed is the max your line (Should) be able to achieve.

Unfortunately, It is highly doubtful you'll sync at 10mbps ever again as i've seen in quite a few cases over the past month.

Might be able to get you to 8 - 9mbps.

Hi ghostR
I currently have a 10Mbs line. Previously it was set to sync at 5Mbs, and that worked well. Then they dropped it to sync at 4Mbs, and today I see it is set to 3.5Mbs. Is it possible to get it back to 5 Mbs, or should I just downgrade to a 4Mbs line?

How do WA Uncapped home account work in terms of usage? ei When does it get throttle?

No set data thresholds on our uncapped accounts. How much data do you intend on using a month outside of 12-6am and what speed uncapped account you looking for?

Bought a small 5/20GB business capped account to test with and I must say, I'm extremely impressed.
If this is how the account preforms day in and day out, I will probably make the move from an uncapped to a capped account.

Yeah, their accounts are solid!

It's lovely waking up in the morning to 20gb's worth of completed torrents (10mb line).

Thanks guys :D Glad you enjoying the account performance.

We can certainly make the request to Telkom and see what they say. PM me your account details and I will take it from there.

Any usage on any protocol used outside of 12-6am will affect your rating. What the guys are saying is that if you download anything rather use the download plus as it won't affect your rating.

Why not just upgrade to Business Uncapped?

I don't use any protocol other than streaming Netflix and YouTube on that account. I want to know if I can stream for a few hours each day in HD without getting throttled. Usage will be like 300GB on a 10Mbs line.

So what they are saying you must watch your movies after midnight only!

Hi Mike,

Are you still having issues?

Yep, back to being unable to authenticate. Not sure how an area-wide Telkom fault takes almost a week to resolve. Because when it did eventually authenticate, throughout was near 0. I've had to resort to using my mobile data because my ADSL line is basically useless...

I'm trying to pull a torrent at my full line speed, so I've swapped from my Mweb 2 Mbps premium uncapped account to my WebAfrica Home ADSL Pro account (5+20 GB) but my speed is even worse. On Mweb I was pulling close to 100 KB/s but with WebAfrica I'm struggling to hit 1.5 KB/s (that's not a typo!) - are the capped accounts shaped?

On another topic, what's the difference between Home ADSL and Home ADSL Pro?

Edit - I swapped to my Afrihost account and I'm sitting at 180 KB/s.
