Web Africa ADSL general feedback

My advice?

I've never liked WA's "priority" shaping policy, so before you dis IS, please try another one like Plugg or Connection.co.za, okay?

All I'm trying to say is YMMV.

I never even mentioned IS so I don't know how you get that I'm dissing them. I'm pissed because this is a 4MB WA account that performs like **** and WA support is absolutely non-existent. We've submitted two tickets during the week, both of which went unanswered and yesterday tried to phone support at three different times - unanswered.

I get that YMMV. That is not my issue. My issue is that on a Saturday evening with an account that has been in the green since we got it, I can't download Minecraft (+- 100mb) within a reasonable timeframe. My issue is that international traffic on the WA account is almost 384 speeds and when we try to contact WA to see if they can help us figure out a solution, we hit a brick wall. I don't care about routing issues. I don't care which network WA is using. I care that we get full speeds on other ISP accounts and not on WA and that it is impossible to get WA to provide support in this regard.

Don't take this the wrong way, but unless you're a WA support rep, I'm not interested. Don't preach to me.

Maybe dis was the wrong word. All I was saying is my experience of ISP's is if it doesn't work it doesn't work, support won't "fix" it, and is easier to just use another ISP that does work out the box.

im tempted to move back to AH,but dont know how long ah will be good in the south :(

Move back to AH... (No Offence intended but) Are you mad??

i kinda am,but there cap have been working great ,on the other hand wa cant even stream 360p late at night (5stars 10mb account on 7mb line)

Won't touch WA again, had a 120GB/480GB capped account that got shaped to hell after about 10 days. Steam dropped to 30Kbps, onedrive was uploading stupidly slow.

Tried upgrading to business uncapped and same result.

Account is only two weeks old, tried to get it sorted but could not get hold of anyone at support.

Ended up just going back to Afrihost, everything is perfect again. I can live with the bad latency once in a while.

Wanted to cancel the Web Africa account and requested a refund as per their website that states Satisfaction Guaranteed with the 30 day money back guarantee. I got told they will happily cancel immidiatly but will not refund me....

Hi Guys,

Has things improved since posted here? Please let me know I can get our team to assist asap.

I'm puzzled about shaping on a capped account.

How does that work?

I'm seeing some signs of shaping on an Axxess capped account, which is why I ask.

Hi TheGrove,

Really sad to hear you've left us and that you will never take up our services anymore. We can only provide you with a refund if you haven't used the account or if the issue was reported to us from the start. The only concession we could make was to process an immediate cancellation in light of your unhappiness. I have send this to our team so they can see why your account was so slow and investigate things to make sure it can be prevented.

Your website clearly states,

Should you not be completely satisfied with our service, each of Web Africa's packages comes with a 30-day money back guarantee.

Well I am not satisfied and I am within the 30 days, are you saying that what you have on your website is not true?

I reported the issue as soon as I experienced it and had no response, I tried for two days to get hold of someone at support, managed to kill all my free minutes on my cell doing it with no answer.

Your support and responses are the reason I will not be back.

How much of the data did you consume until it was cancelled?

The client panel says I used 40GB of the normal data and 60GB of the after hours data. Note this is on a 120GB/480GB account, so a 3rd of the day time and an 8th of the night data, then I began experiencing issues.

But regardless of the amount I used your site clearly states 30 Days! it does not say only if the account is unused, or only if you use below this amount of data, it says 30 days.

So a simple question is, I am not satisfied and I am within 30 days are you saying that I am not entitled to a refund as your website suggests?

Okay so got a response from your sales team,

This applies to our hosting packages and not ADSL.

As a sign of good faith we would waiver our one calendar month notice term and cancel at the end of this month. However there wont be any refunds on your account due to excessive usage.

So just to confirm the following statement on your site that I saw when signing up, is not true.

Satisfaction Guaranteed

I suggested that you bill me only for the data used which in actual fact was only a third of my allocated cap which is hardly high usage at this stage of the month but okay maybe some might see it differently.

No idea, Steam was downloading full speed at the beggining of the month, sold my desktop and got a laptop forgot to backup my steam library so downloaded the games I was currently playing. Ran great up until this weekend, wanted to download hitman absolution and two days for 5GB.

I tried to get through to support on Monday but got no answer, eventually spoke to a chap in sales that promised to go upstairs and get someone to call me but still heard nothing back so just went back to Afrihost and internet was flying again. I can live with the odd latency issue at least I can download when I need to.

CC chargeback. If they dispute that, Small Claims Court (with damages tacked on).

Do not let those fsckers get away with it.
