Come on WA something is wrong - there are too many of us battling for this to not be a fault on your side.

What is going on??

I am flying along at just over 200 KB/s on my 10 meg capped line; DL from free and paid news servers. If I switch over to my back up ISP I will fly along at 1 MB/s, so fault is with WA

10mb Business Uncapped
Never had issues before
Can even stream a video

Currently managing about 150 KB/s :(

Support has reported issue to IS who are looking into it so hopefully progress back to decency is happening

NNTP, P2P and general downloading protocols are shaped. Having said that, the streaming priority is high, therefore there shouldn't be issues there. Hence, we're investigating the issues: Gopes and Bursty-dude are experiencing.

NNTP, P2P and general downloading protocols are shaped. Having said that, the streaming priority is high, therefore there shouldn't be issues there. Hence, we're investigating the issues: Gopes and Bursty-dude are experiencing.

In fairness it probably has nothing to do with the size of ur line, but more what their shaping policy has it set to. What I did in the past is if I was doin a lot of downloads during the day I changed to the pro capped accounts. Never had any issues then.
 
I have for months had terrible streaming with videos on the Steam store. I will get maybe around 30KB bandwidth which is far, far too low to stream these videos. Often if I refresh the page several times the video will eventually start to stream at my full bandwidth (but often it does not), though often if it does it will only be for a short period and then it will drop to practically nothing again. I sometimes have this same issue with Youtube but not as often.

The free 1gb account I have from Afrihost streams perfectly from Steam, practically giving me my full bandwidth the entire time. I just spent about an hour trying different videos on the Steam store with my two different accounts before posting this.
 
Personally I would rename the Home capped accounts to youaresupposedtobeatwork capped, since shaping is applied when you're not at home :p

HAHA!!! u sir win the internet!!

Cause that's exactly how it feels, I get home load up some MineCraft and lag to hell and gone. After 5pm all is working perfectly again. I actually don't download a lot these days and im seriously considering switching to a home pro account.

If you switch to a home pro capped account, you're allowing them to devalue your account. Remember a year ago when none of this was an issue? They've implemented new shaping policies this year - so technically you're not getting the same account you originally signed up for. Rather complain until they fix it. If they don't, go to an ISP that offers unshaped capped as a standard. I'm still with WA since I am at work until 5ish :p
 
Well I have a weird case. Minecraft seems to run horrid during business hours and we cant work out why. Does any1 have a fair understanding of how shaping would work? Is it just port related or are their other factors we need to consider? Like Mc runs off a java platform.

AFAIK they can shape port, protocol and IP. Maybe you should let a friend host a server, then you join and see if it's also bad?

Well the server is hosted on a paid Mweb platform and they can connect fine with a different ISP.
 
A question to the WA guys. In terms of capped, what's the difference between Home Pro & Business? They are both Gold profile. They are also the same price.
