Web Africa ADSL general feedback

International is still sometimes causing timeouts this morning.

yep, it is still crawling this morning. Come on WA, you can do better than this!

WebAfrika Fail

WAMATT and RPM are big buddies, you never find rpm doing an article when Webafrica is not up to standard, but headline articles when they come out with crappy deals

This issue has been going on for more than 2 weeks now. No one can run a business like this. I have no issues on an Afrihost account. This is a WebAfrika specific issue. And then on top of it all, they market themselves as selling "Premium" bandwidth. Note: There is NO such thing in SA !

The new Consumer protection Act states that consumers should be refunded if they don't get the service they have paid for. This is clearly a case of WebAfrika not providing the service we all pay dearly for.

WebAfrika should pay us our money back for the month of October and the way this is going on, for November as well. That is if they have ANY clients left after this month !!!

Ditto.

Sigh. :(

11KB/s on multi-threaded http download with 4Mb/s line.

This is still going on. This is some serious BS now. My home and work line is with WA rendering my life useless.

FML!

Look on the bright side guys - at least WA is learning from this experience, and putting measures in place to avoid this happening in the future!

They can learn on their own time. There is way too much Web Africa hero worship going on still. Perhaps they deserved it in the past but since I have been with them(February) their network and service has steadily declined. I'll give them a 5 out of 10 at best.

Usually I load www.bbc.co.uk/news/ 100% after a few seconds on my WA account. Now it still shows "connecting" after 2 mins. :(

Which ISP provides the cheapest prepaid bandwidth at the moment (that is not running on SAT3)? Afrihost is R39/Gb prepaid. I assume that's the cheapest?

I'd like to get some feedback regarding how long this is likely to go on for.

So glad I have 2 ISP's - mweb and WA!!

Mweb goes down, switch to WA....WA goes down, switch to mweb.

I normally jam xbox using my WA account. It was completely useless for the last couple of days!! Totally sucks man! The pings are usually muuuuch better.

Morning everyone,

Please see the latest update on our forums

Morning guys,

A quick update on the what's changed:

  • The landing station in Portugal on SAT3 is still an issue.
  • We're waiting for additional capacity via alternative routes, we're hoping for this to go live before mid-day today. We need to wait on Telkom to implement this.
  • For now, international sites are the primary affected, local browsing should still be fine

I'll have an update posted as soon as it lands in my inbox.

Any other ISP here that comes in with a fantastic deal now, watch how WA customers will cancel.Come on Afrihost and gang, this is an opportunity for you guys.

my WA account is unusable today - it was fine until this weekend though...

No one can run a business like this.
Our Business (and Pro) quality accounts *should* still be performing decently. If anyone has noticed anything otherwise please let me know asap.

Come on WA, you can do better than this!
Fully agreed. We absolutely can and will do better - I promise! We are working diligently at finding solutions to bring service levels back to their usual quality, across the board.

A simple email informing customers about the issue would have been fine but WA haven't even bothered with that. Hmmmm...I tend to get 6 billion reminders to make sure I have funds in my account for my debit order but a little client contact is too difficult. Come on WA....not cool
