Web Africa ADSL general feedback

But after the increase had already been implemented. We get told before the end of the month what is happening to the petrol price next month so we can plan accordingly.

To increase prices from 1 November and inform people on 2 November is a really poor show. In fact with your cancellation policy you should have told people 5 to 6 weeks before so they can action if they want to without any penalty.

Sadly - whilst we do appreciate the extra gigs - when you increase prices without warning, this just comes across in a really poor light and I would actually go as far as saying it is not very ethical at all

Definately not ethical, poor show, very poor show.

Subject to calendar month cancellation...

I do have a partial solution for that though ;) Uncancel and cancel near the end of each month.

How's that new portal of yours doing?

I'm nearly ready to switch ... ;)

Subject to calendar month cancellation...

Will give them credit ... I asked for immediate cancellation upon receiving that email at end of November and they will cancel at end of November. November is still charged at old rate too. No voice call was necessary.

WebAfrica, can someone reply to ticket 2928541? Really not happy with your level of service. :(

Guys the best thing to do here is go to ICASA or whoever helps to over see these issues. Complaining to WA or any ISP is not the best way to do it. If you feel done in do something constructive about it! Moving to another ISP doesn't solve the problem as Afrihost has proven with there current issue.

So man up people. You have rights, use them!

Yes it has been increased, all communication as to why was emailed over to you.

BS, got no such mail. I am actually really getting fed up with you guys.

Poor support, your website works half the time and now this. Time to move on.

Good question:

4 Mb/s ~ 400 KB/s
400 KB/s * 60 s * 60 m * 6 h = 247 GB

So, no.

Even 10 Mb/s can't use it:

10 Mb/s ~ 1000 KB/s
1000 KB/s * 60 s * 60 m * 6 h = 618 GB

Thanks for that. Thought when I read it that it wasn't possible. Almost like false advertising.

Hi,

4 Mb/s ~ 400 KB/s
400 KB/s * 60 s * 60 m * 6 h * 30 d = 7410 GB

10 Mb/s:

10 Mb/s ~ 1000 KB/s
1000 KB/s * 60 s * 60 m * 6 h * 30 d = 18540 GB

This is not false advertising.

Charge you on the 1st, announce new prices on the 2nd.

Pathetic.

The ADSL line increase for existing customers is effective as of the 1st of December, hence the mailers were sent on the second of this month. We want to give our customers ample time to prepare for the increase.

Hi diegoa,

Mujeeb from our support team has been in touch with you this morning and he'll keep you in touch as promised.

What issues are you experiencing with our website because there are no issues from our side nor have we received complaints about our site being down?

Don't customers have to give a calendar month's notice in order to cancel, though? So telling them on the 2nd of this month ensures they have ample time to prepare for the increase, but just too little time to avoid it by cancelling their service?

Hi,

I actually did multiple by 30, somehow didn't put it in the post. My calcs are correct, to illustrate with 10 Mb/s:

10 Mb/s ~ 1000 KB/s
1000 KB/s * 60 seconds = 60000 KB/minute
60000 KB/minute * 60 minutes = 3600000 KB/hour
3600000 KB/hour * 6 hours = 21600000 KB/day
21600000 KB/day * 30 days = 648000000 KB/month
648000000 KB/month / 1024 bytes = 632812.5 MB/month
632812.5 MB/month / 1024 bytes = 617.9 GB/month

I was referring to our ADSL Business Capped account.

Thanks for the clarity and apologies for not having my facts straight

I do think though that this still is not enough time as you require one months notice so the poor person who cancels now still has to pay for December

I think I must be missing something as I have a 10 meg line and would be lucky to get 21 gigs in over the 6 hours, so if I went like that for 30 days that would give me 630 gigs. That is a massive difference from your calculations

No ways anyone on a 10 meg line can use 1000 DL+ gigs in a month

I agree with Biometrics and his calculations. I think you have messed up somewhere big time

Your website is struggling again and going on offline mode. I am also unable to reply to a ticket keeps saying 403 error. I am surprised you guys have not even picked this up:

That's a Cloudflare error, it usually resolved after a few minutes. Companies use Cloudflare if they get DDoS'ed.
