Web Africa ADSL general feedback

pings are still terrible for WOW since the beginning of the month, my saix is better now :/

Out of interest sake, for those that don't know:

http://money.cnn.com/2011/11/07/technology/juniper_internet_outage/index.htm?hpt=hp_t3

It seems Level3, one of WA's upstream providers in London was hit by a firmware bug in certain Juniper devices. 9am ET time matches 4pm SA time yesterday when the problem happened.

According to http://pastebin.com/HBWiH92j a fix was available for some time already, so seems Level3 didn't update the firmware and the bug was triggered yesterday by accident when someone on the internet somewhere made a BGP update.

Oi... WA. Why is it that NONE of my Filesonic files want to download using you, but the moment I switch to FNB I get full line speed? You guys are really not being transparent about your shaping policies. Sies.

Hey guys,

The SAT3 landing station has been restored and we're running via our usual routes again.

Clicked on a youtube file a few minutes ago and still waiting for it to get to the file, let alone play it

Are torrents being shaped after hours now as well?

I used to be able to queue up my torrents to download between 12-5AM and I'd reliably get full speed (4MB/s) during those times

These days I'm lucky if I can download 100Mb per hour overnight.

I only downloaded about 200 meg but it took 10 odd minutes, so looks fine on my front

You guys talking about torrents or normal downloads?

Normal downloads are fine for me, torrents seem to be heavily shaped lately, I'm lucky if I average 30Kb/s for a big file.

My normal downloads are fine, don't really use torrents anymore.
