Web Africa ADSL general feedback

...to be honest...seems like all ISP's is taking South Africa's way of doing things...BACKWARDS!
One of these days, we'll be back....INVENTING THE WHEEL!

Last night news server was not working until after 22:00. Tonight not working, but even with my astraweb account speed is pathetic. 10 - 15KB/s :(
I guess people are using up their caps and that the network capacity is simply not enough

1 hr 38 mins to get 300mb from a private nzb server?

I will give you 24 hours to fix the problem, I have never had this problem except for the past 2 weeks. On a 10 mb line where 700mb used to equal 17 min on a bad day.

Cpa might have a delay but I am not a fool and I will not be taken for a fool. PM me if you have a meaningful resolution.

This is after 19:00 pm if you are interested. I used to get quicker speeds on a weekday, during business hours.

I was downloading the Win 8 Beta and I only got half my line speed (51Kbps) on 1Mb line from 24:00 yesterday up to now. It looks like the speed is throttled as the download speeds was constant irrespective how many threads or files I was downloading or if it is before or after 6:00

I just did a speedtest and international speeds is half that of local.

Anyone else getting fixed international download speeds that is half your line download speed?

Yup last night speeds sucked big time. At around 22h00 I gave up and cancelled my usenet DL as it was going nowhere slowly. That said I'm pretty sure this is the "use my last bit of cap before 00h00 on the last day of the month" syndrome, which must have maxed out WA network.

After WA announced their uncapped offerings I did say that they would struggle to provide sufficient bandwidth as we are a hungry bunch. No-one seemed interested...oh well the proof is in the eating I guess.

nope downgraded to 1mb yesterday, my windows 8 finished though the night with usenet, newsdeamon.

Can't stream 240p on youtube on a 10Mbps line now. Nice WA

But I still get 7Mpbs download speeds to international servers:

So what does it mean when the download and upload speed is the same ?

Thats just sad. WA really needs to fix their shaping algorithm. It shouldn't shape things into oblivion when there is enough capacity (judging by the speedtest result).

Not sure what is going on tonight. I can DL from news server just fine - can max out line

Trying to DL an update for SABnzb and it is crawling to non-existent speeds; youtube is erratic at best - have waited a few minutes for a file to load, and am now giving up. Another did load earlier and then was eventually ok. Browsing weird.

Really mixed night - wish WA could be consistently good again

Yeah last month I only used my WA account once and found I couldn't stream Radio 5 without buffering.. sadly. So I used alternative ISP which can stream 720p without a problem.
